Sorry if this has been discussed before...couldn't find it. Where can I find the description of the folder structure for the local drive chat logs? In Preferences I have an option to change it, but I can't scroll in the text box containing the current path using the text cursor. Is there a naming convention that I can search on (WinXP Pro SP3) to access the logs, or is there some other easy way to get to the chat logs? Probably a huge blue button that I've stared at all along, I know!

In XP, open Windows Explorer or My Computer, on the menu choose Tools, the Folder Options. Click the View tab, then make sure the following setting is ticked:

Show Hidden Files and Folders

hit Apply and OK.

Then, go to Documents and Settings, select the folder with your profile name, go to Application Data, scroll down to Second Life, and in here you will find your chat logs.

I changed the default location to another drive and folder, and then use Folder Monkey to make daily backups of them. This way it keeps them cleaned up, I can find them easily, and I have backups. :)

With my memory, this is the only way I can remember what my name is day to day.

I changed the default location for chat and IM text files to a protected folder called Virus Infected Files.

I did think of calling the folder "Spider Photos".

Pep (Astonishing what you'd miss using the 'Ignore' button, eh?)

You go on and off 'Ignore' for me depending on 'YOUR' mood of the moment. If you are posting spider photos, I'm out, because of my fear and phobia, which you know about, but if you are feeling mean enough to do it anyway then I protect myself by using Ignore.

As someone's sig line here says, (paraphrase) You are not responsible for my 'Predictable' SL Experience.' I am. Ignore is what LL has given me, here, to protect myself. When your mode or focus changes to something or someone else, then I take you off of Ignore because you can be amusing and interesting and maybe because I am somewhat of a sucker. If I have you on Ignore, then I am not 'missing' anything except something designed to upset me (spider photos) so it's all good, Pep.

The paradox being how do you know my mood if you have me on ignore?

By quotes, but usually a short time of no response will move your focus, as well. Too boring for someone to keep 'on' at someone else without the pleasure of a horrified response. However, if I don't see references in quotes, I just give it a few days. If I miss something earth shattering in that time, well, my bad, I'll have to live with it. At least my equilibrium stays on an even keel. Curiosity IS humanity's strongest instinct, agreed. I like the forums and often I even like you. I don't enjoy having anyone on Ignore and would only do it for my own peace of mind. So now that I"ve shared this, I guess you'll give it a few days, and then post a spider for me again. Still, you asked......

Brilliant. I made a shortcut and gave it the hidden attribute and put it in My Documents, but left the original files as is...unlikely anyone will go there looking for them.

I use different computers throughout the day. When I was ignoring you on one you were not ignored on the other.
