Hello! I havent been a member of second life for long but am loving it! I have a question though that has been driving me mad. When ever i change my clothes i lose my hair! Is there any way off stopping this? Is so annoying as i have to keep reattaching it every time i want to try something on.
Thank you!

Kelly, how are you changing your clothes? You know you don't have to take OFF what you're wearing before you put ON something new. For example, if you're wearing a pair of pants and want to change to a NEW pair of pants, you can simply "wear" the new pair from your inventory. The old pair will then automatically come off and go back to inventory. If, however, you are, say, wearing a jacket and want to take it off, right click on yourself, and on the pie menu (the first or second one I'm not sure--you might have to choose "more" first), there is an option to take off your clothes by choosing which piece to take off (i.e. jacket, shirt, skirt, etc.). Sounds like you're choosing to remove ALL clothes or ALL attachments.
HTH!

If the hair is copyable (most are), save one with each of the outfits you make and it will stay in place. It should be attached to the skull. (I do this all the time, too, I just try to change at home...). You can also get in the habit of "wearing" the new things without detaching your old clothes instead of choosing "replace outfit."

Hello KellyMarie, welcome to SL and welcome to the Forum. You have come to the right place with your question. From what you describe, you are using the "replace outfit" function to change your clothes. This is a good way to do it, but as you noticed, this automatically detches all your existing prim attachments. What I do: I have separate folders for different outfilts, containing clothes, hair, HUD attachments, Mystitool, etc. so that when I right-click and select "replace outfit" on one of my outfit folders everything is changed, including the hair. Each outfit folder contains a copy of the hair. Of course, you need copy-enabled hair to do that, but I don't know a reputable hair creator who isn't selling his hair copy enabled. Good luck & feel free to come back if this isn't clear. *waves*

Thank you for the quick replies! I change my clothes by going to the inventory and clicking wear on the item or dragging it onto my AV, i dont take my other clothes off first.
Even if i just add something on my hair always disappears! Actually have just noticed that if i am wearing something and add something else that item disappears off of my AV too! In other words i cant wear more than one item at a time. For example i was wearing a dress then added some shoes and the dress disappeared! I then added it back on again and the shoes came off! Its driving me mad!

Ugh, getting the dreaded "Forbidden" message trying to respond to this. Rephrasing everything:
Try right clicking and choosing wear instead of dragging items onto your avi.
Try a different hair.
Go somewhere private, detach and remove everything, make two simple outfits, no attachments except for the hair. Can you replace them?
Have you tried re-baking and asking if others see what you are seeing?

Hi Kelly,
Are you absolutely sure you are dragging clothing/attachment items onto your av and not folders?
Even if a folder contains only shoes or just a dress, it will remove all your other attachments and clothes if you drag it onto your av.

Instead of "wear" I always right click and select "Add to outfit". This will only replace something that has the same attachment point as the item(s) you are putting on.

I have a few other questions please!
Why do all the shoes look strange on me? I have made my feet small but they still dont fit properly and just look weird.
Is there any way i can get a new walk? My av has a very strange walk which is sooo annoying!
Thanks Kelly x

Thanks Kelly x Shoes generally have three parts, the two shoes and the shoe base. make sure you wear all three parts.
