Have always used the Beta grid in the past to test my textures. Now that SecondLife Mono is here, cannot connect to grid. Will not log me on. Is anyone else having this problem. Have uninstalled, reinstalled (am not a pc geek) and still nothing. Have no problems with regular SL, hardly ever crash so it cannot be a pc issue. Now am worried about future, will this prevent me from using SL in future. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

What error messages do you get when you try to log on?

This is the message I get...."Unable to connect to Second Life. Despite our best efforts something unexpected has gone wrong. Please check www.secondlife.com/status to see if there is a problem with the service.
I check status and there is no problem, so can't understand why this started with the download of Mono. Thanks for your help. |

I just got the same message.
LL barely gets the status page to reflect the status of the main grid. I doubt there's any reason to think the Beta Grid crew would ever be making much effort to show the status of the Beta Grid on the status page. I just tried again and it worked. Maybe it was just down or is being intermittent. _____________________

If the client with Mono in it gives you trouble (and there were problems with the older RCs, which the current Mono client is based on), you can get there with the regular viewer.
Details at http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/05/25/reintroducing-the-preview-grid-aditi/ All you can't do with the regular client on the beta grid is compile scripts to Mono, but that won't get in the way of texture tests or most other things. There are actually several regions on the beta grid that don't even have Mono in the server, you don't need to worry about that part at all unless you're trying out scripts. _____________________

Thanks so much. Was able to get on with Aditi. Did not even know you could do this. You have saved me a bundle in Lindens. Thanks again.

I'm not sure this has anything to do with Mono. I got this message earlier myself on the main grid and someone else has reported they have had the same message too.

It could have been happening for real too, but the current Mono viewer based on RC6 definitely has that problem on its own intermittently. It was fixed in RC10.
