Is my pong court going to be safe?

So, yesterday it was brought to my attention that the use of ctrl+click in conjunction with physical objects can get a pong-like game going, essentially.
So, naturally, I plan to build a sorta pong court on my roof/house, and I want to make it playable to everyone who wanders up.
This means that I'm going to need to make the 'paddles' 'Anyone can move' able, which means someone might end up being a turd and taking one away or something, or leaving it somewhere odd, like..iono...on my sleeping head.
Anyhow, do you guys think it'd be 'safe' to just leave it as is, or should I script it so that the court sends out a poll and if no response from the paddles is given, it rezzes a new paddle?
(To go even farther I could do a two-way poll, where if the paddle doesn't hear from the court, it dies)
So..should I just hope for the best and not bother with the scripting, or should I do the scripting? >.<
Not asking for how to script it.. I know I can a few ways, but..should I?

I'd say yes - but instead - have a box that just hands out free paddles to those who need one?

Thing is, I don't want to enable build for others on my land... it happens to be a place that seems to get unusually large amounts of newbies, who, if left unattended in a build area, can wreak havoc (I did this for two days while I was gone once..came back and it looked like an adult store exploded on my house) So..hrm....maybe a 'click to rez paddle, click to derez paddle' thing? hrm...trying to think of osmething that would be generally safe, and not end up with paddles littering the sim >.<

Temp rezzing paddles is your solution.

--Hugsy I've got some objects from an av that no longer exists, that aren't of the group that owns the land that would disappear, that I don't want to. From: Cristalle Mirikami Temp rezzing paddles is your solution. My initial thought was that they would disappear in the middle of a game..now that I think about it though, selected things don't de-rez when temp, that's part of their charm.. however, does ctrl-clicking (Grabbing) count for this, or would they just disappear all of a sudden?

I think the ball would need to be permanent, but the paddles temp. Put up some walls around the court to keep the ball inside.

From: Cristalle Karami I think the ball would need to be permanent, but the paddles temp. Put up some walls around the court to keep the ball inside. /me nods OK..so.... at this point, the plan is as such: Walled court (Originally planned, as this is gonna be on mah roof, replacing the unusable tennis court, but thank you ^_^) Non-temp, physical ball, not 'anyone can move' Temp rezzer for paddles 2 Temp paddles, physical, 'anyone can move' Does this sound generally safe? Thinking about it, may also want to script the ball to die if too far from the court or something, and re-rez (It's very possible to accidentally knock it out unless the wals are rather large, which isn't aesthetically pleasing IMO. Also, eventually I do plan to add 'goal' spaces that will record points, but for now that's a future plan, as I need t figure out the scripting, and I'm lazy.

On the other hand, you could just dispense paddles as an attachment, nothing special about them. Like the guitars, mops, etc. that campers give out. And keep autoreturn on.

I can't use autoreturn, due to an issue outlined briefly above.. and not sure what you mean about 'as an attachment' Would that be usable? I've really only started playing with physical objects recently, but it seems like if it's an attachment then you can't really get the speed up to knock the ball back, and you'd have to move with the paddle, which could be rather cumbersome.

From: Keira Wells I've got some objects from an av that no longer exists, that aren't of the group that owns the land that would disappear, that I don't want to. Are you the owner of the objects? If so, you should be able to set the group. If the other av is the owner and not available to change the group, then that would be a problem. Perhaps you could either replace these objects or divide your land so that these objects are their own parcel (and use auto-return on a parcel that makes up the rest of your land). The only reason I suggest this is because auto-return is *the* best way to keep other people's stuff from junking up your land. No build, no script, and no object entry help, but somehow objects will find their way. --Hugsy

--Hugsy They're owned by a different av, that no longer exists (Banned) and so the group can't be changed, and I can't move them. And I'm rather protective of my land at any rate.. I honestly just don't like other people building on it =/ When other peoples' objects end up there somehow they're gone as soon as I find out (I check the owners of objects in the about land bit daily) I allow scripts, because I see no real reason not to, if I ever find one that applies ot me, maybe I will, but I don't allow build or object entry.
