in the new search, why do some properties have every object for sale listed, and others show no objects for sale.
do you really want them to show? can we make them not show in the settings?

Search relevancy takes the objects shown in search into account. If store "A" has a vending system that sells 25 different kinds of dresses, their classified ad or "Show in Search > Places" listing gives them one match for whatever search terms that they put in their descriotion for that ad or listing. If store "B" has 25 one-prim boxes offering 25 different dresses, and all are listed in "Show in search", that store gets 25 additional matches when someone searches for "Dress". So they will show in search above store "A". So... if a merchant wants to be seen, they spam their land with individual one-prim vendors, so every item they sell gets a listing in Search. They all still show in the parcel listing, but they greatly affect search priority.

yes, i knew that. thank you, though, because you explained it well.
but, what i mean is.... when you click a business that's come up in search, it shows a list of items for sale, and their prices.
but, some places do not offer that list.
why are some showing, and some not? my settings?

If you are selling from a scripted vendor, it is impossible for Search to know what you are selling in that vendor. The best it can do is to list the description field for that vendor, if you set the vendor itself to show in search (manual change) yet not itself be 'for sale'. So since a lot of scripted vendors show the currently selected item in the description field for the vendor, you get one random selection out of what "Store A" sells. Prim objects that were set as "for sale" defaulted to having "Show in search" checked when they rolled out the new search. New prim objects that are "for sale" must have the "Show in search" property box checked manually. And of course none of it shows in Search if "Show in Search > Places" isn't checked for the parcel.

It's because of the parcel. The cut out parcel for the add has no items listed on it but can still be within the sim.

do you really want them to show? can we make them not show in the settings? Every object can be set to show in search in the build window, general tab. If the parcel is set to Show Place in Search, and the object has Show in Search ticked, then it will show up as you are seeing. As far as I know only the owner of the objects can prevent them from showing.

From: 3Ring Binder pardon my ignorance..... i have NO idea what this means. Drakul says you could cut out a item-less parcel specifically for the ad. A landing zone.
