Second Life research

I didn't exactly know where to put my request to get to a lot of people at once. But I think here it is. I am working on a research about Second Life users and I could use some feedback of the Second Life Community it self. That's why I ask you to fill in a little survey for me.

This is the link (no bad stuff happens): http://www.thesistools.com/?qid=89213&ln=eng

I really hope this is allowed on this forum and I really hope you will do me a favor :)

Thanks it advance,

Jacob

Pay this no attention.

/me ignores Pep and posts anyway.

You will probably not get a warm reception here, Jacob. For one thing, we get requests like this all the time, and we lab rats are getting tired of being studied by undergrads. The more considerate researchers at least offer to pay people for their time in taking the survey.

Your survey, even if it is well constructed, will not give you representative results. The regulars on these forums do NOT constitute a reliable cross section of all Second Life residents. You'd get better data by going in world and interviewing avatars.

Lots of these "academic" surveys are thinly disguised market research attempts. Legitimate researchers will post their academic credentials, along with some way to verify them.

The very first thing you ask for is an email address. A lot of us won't give you that information.

After I saw that and left, I went back a second time, ready to give a fake address to see what the survey is about.

I'll admit that it's short, but what is it for? It sure doesn't look like thesis material.

Could you tell us why you're gathering this information, what you're going to use it for, and where you will post the results?

Gah! I'm in a foul mood already today and now another one of these.

/me calls for Mari and her quote about surveys

Sold to spam lists is my first guess.

Jacob, if this is legit I would STRONGLY suggest you use a different survey tool.

First page is:
Asking For Email

Then they survey.

And finally, the "no bad stuff."

Yeah ... that ain't gonna happen.
