Hi, if you've ever tried storing large numbers of inventory items in an object (such as an inventory box, a texture organizer etc.) you may have noticed that not everything you drag and drop into the object's contents actually ends up there. In fact, the larger the number of items you drag and drop at a time, the lower will be the success rate. I've created a jira entry for this issue. If you want it to be fixed, please vote here: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4344

Actually, they do end there, in my experience, they just don't show up at first try. If you close the edit menu and go back again and look at contents, you'll find them there, most likely.

Yes, they arrive eventually, you do see a lot of boxes with:
Sound.wav Sound.wav 1 Texture Texture 1 Script Script 1
which is what happens when other residents make the same assumptions, that the first transfer didn't work and it's a real pain checking to see if they are actual copies or if they are separate files, so just be patience.

There absolutely can be losses with big transfers from inventory into an object, it becomes painfully clear when the assets are of the no copy variety and they vanish.

D'oh, I should have mentioned that the 1.27 server will have some new back-end stuff for inventory, but it won't all be turned on at once. Hopefully one of those protocol changes will be in the right place to nail this problem.

Well I've tested this pretty exhaustively, and the fact is, if you try to move more than, say, 60 items into an object at once, a lot of the time they will NOT end up there, no matter how long you wait. If it's more than 100 items, 8 out of 10 times some of them will go missing.

I always archive in chunks of about 20 items at a time, and I leave one item until the end. I find that pushing that single item in last will force all of the other items to load and show up in the contents window of whatever storage box I'm using.

From: Dylan Rickenbacker Well I've tested this pretty exhaustively, and the fact is, if you try to move more than, say, 60 items into an object at once, a lot of the time they will NOT end up there, no matter how long you wait. If it's more than 100 items, 8 out of 10 times some of them will go missing. weird, I have moved easily 60+ items (textures, animations, objects etc) and never had this problem. Could it be something on your end?

It's definitely a flaw in the SL protocols, and it's worse when the grid is busy. LL is in the process of replacing the protocols because they lose inventory.
