I am thinking about starting a membership to Second Life and then getting some land to place a skybox on (only the 512m one with no fees) and was wondering if the 117 prim count applies to your land only or your land and avatar as well? Like lets say I have a jacket that has 12 prims would that count on the prims allowed for the land or is that something different? I plan on using the skybox to build on so when I'm building stuff to place on xstreet would that count on the prim allowance too? If I go over the prim count will it charge me more money or just not let me build/open anything more? (I just don't want to get a bill for a bunch of money that I was not planning on getting.) I would like to just get the membership and some land to build and put a magic box on to start selling stuff on xstreet then maybe someday expand to more land and a shop with an apartment above or something...haha Would it be better to place the magic box on there spot for the 60 days and see how it goes? Would you rent rather then get a membership? (HELP !!)

Items attached to your avatar do not count against land prim limits.

The 117 prims is for the land. What avatars have on doesn't count towards it.

you could look for a double prim lot also..i know the skybeam first land had some 512's with double prim..
i used to have two side by side..my tier was only 500 a week per 512.. hope this helps. also each lot you own in a sim goes into your prim count total..thats per sim..so say i have two double prim 512's at 234 per lot in prims the total prim count for that sim to use on either lot would be 468.. so if you had two 512's side by side you would be in pretty good shape at 1k per week and a 1024 lot with 468 prims.. takes a breath _____________________

...and vehicles (aka: anything being sat on) don't count either.
Beware of getting too close to the limit while somebody is sitting on something on your land. Like, for example, if you're sitting on a 20-prim object then you rez some stuff then you stand up, the object you were sitting on will suddenly start getting charged against your prim count. The sim may allow you being over your limit for a minute or so but it will return enough objects to get you back down under the limit before long. IIRC, things that were being sat on usually get returned first. _____________________

Hello! Welcome! Got any shinies?
![]() Ceka: I think Levi's talking about the 512 square meters of mainland you get at no extra tier charge with a premium account. Estate land is accounted for separately. _____________________

If I go over the prim count will it charge me more money or just not let me build/open anything more? You're all giving him mixed and incorrect information. First of all, the parcel must be in mainland for your free tier to function. Not rented from another avatar. Any clothes or prims you're wearing or sitting on, do not count towards your prim limit. (i.e., if you unsit or stand up from a car, it will then count towards your prim limit). Anything you build in your parcel will count towards the prim limit. Skybox, furniture, plants, etc., including any projects you may be working on. Once you've reached your prim limit, no more will be allowed to rez in your parcel, until you delete or take something into inventory. Your XStreetSL box will count to prim limit. I hope this is clearer. _____________________

Very Thanks I just don't want to go over on the cost of the membership if I need more L$ then I will buy them just don't want to get a bill for crazy money and be like ...OMG WHAT IS THIS ON MY BILL!! This sim is cool just hope I can make it in Second Life and not spend a bunch of money getting there. Guess I will search the forums for more info if you have any that you might think i need let me know...haha |

There is no risk that strange billing will occur if you exceed the prim limit. The only thing that happens is that you can't create (or rezz) the prims when the limit is reached.
The only way to get billed extra is if you buy land above the 512 square meters that are included in your premium membership. |

Yes, welcome to the forums!
Your question has been answered! You can do quite a lot with 117 prims, with a bit of ingenuity. _____________________

I bought a rat for my place, he had so many prims (40 odd) I took him off the land and "wear" him so I can still have him around.
Your avi is good for stuff like that. _____________________

You can do a lot with free furniture, things like the free houses (I'm fond of the BSD Arch) and a little bit of texture. IM me in world and when I'm logged in next I can sent you a list of the stuff Arwen and I have used. _____________________
