Since LL bought XStreet, it's logical to assume that eventually, your XStreet L$ balance could be tied to your SL account balance.
Does anyone know if this is planned, at all, or has this been mentioned at any point? (I'm tired of having to find an XStreet terminal to pay to be able to buy things when people don't have an in-world store.)

Yes that has been announced. Xstreet even stopped placing new terminals because they are eventually phasing them out altogether.
Currently they are working on merging Xstreet and SL logins, that is one of the things that has to be finished before the separate balances go away.
