To remove sign, right-click on it, choose More, click on Delete.
To place your house, drag from inventory. It may be packed in a box, in that case you must open the box first, and drag the house from the new folder created in your inventory.

Congrats and welcome to the the Tax Rolls :)

To return the sales sign On About Land, select the Objects Tab- see where it says Objects Owned By Ohters? Click Return there :)

Alternately you may have to "Return" the for sale sign. This can be done from the pie as well, click More and then Return I believe.

As for the house it may also come in a Rezer box in which case you simply click the box, it will rez the house, and then you move it around by moving the box till you are happy with its placement. Then click the box again to "Finalize" its placement and you can take the box back if the house is copy, or delete it if it's No Copy. You may not be able to tell this from the box it's self as it may have a No Copy rez script in it as well as the copy house components.

if you are trying to rez the house as a whole, make sure the land has enough prims free to support the house

if you are unsure how many prims the house has, go to a sandbox and rez it there to get the prim count.

(go into edit mode, then rez the house, do not close the edit window, look at the first tab, it will show you the total of prims in the rezzed house)

The reason for having the edit window open before rezzing is just in case the house is in multiple pieces.

Thanks people managed to get the house up.

Another question tho if my house is open to public, people cant just take my furniture can they?

Also how can you find out how many prims you have used or when shoping for furniture how many prims an item takes

Thanks

No one can actually take anything beyond a copy - if it is copyable. Unless you have security or your land is not open, anyone can come in and ..uhm - use your stuff.

Also how can you find out how many prims you have used

Click on your parcel name at the top of the window or click on land and choose 'about land', under the tab objects it will say how many prims you have and how many you have used.

…or when shopping for furniture how many prims an item takes

Click on the object you want to buy and choose 'edit' underneath the general tab it will tell you how many prims that item is, however, if the item is more than one piece, click on all separate pieces and add them up.

At the risk of turning this into another "security or open" thread...

Nobody can steal or break your stuff in SL.

Some people, therefore, leave their houses open. After all, they're not there most of the time...and they either don't care if someone else shows up and uses their TV or their bed, or they're proud of what they've created and actually enjoy showing it off. (Having rude visitors drop in unannounced while they are actually at home, though, could be another story...)

Other people feel that they're paying for the land, and want a place that's theirs alone. So they put up banlines (renters generally can't do this), or they install a security system on the house, or the whole parcel, to toss intruders out on their ear.

It's all up to you. And possibly to your landlord, if you're renting a place.
