Hi. i own some land on the sim Rundlelawn and theres always been a "void" to the east of the sim as well with the other adjacent sims (you can see this on the map). as of yesterday, the entire void has been filled up with openspace sims (1875 prims/65536sqm) classified as linden protected land with no build, but object entry/scripts on with autoreturn set @ 20 min. alot of land owners here in adjacent sims that i know are concerned that these areas may go up on the auction block, i adamantly disagree as this would certainly cause alot of us to sell our land cheap or even abandon it. im seeing the added openspace sims as a benifet as there is true waterfront now, not a fake void (im not happy with the way its been terrained), but my question is, could those sims eventually be put on the auction block ? its my understanding that you cannot buy an openspace sim unless you have bought/own an estate island, i have not heard of buying an openspace sim bordering mainland sims and in my opinion, if that is the case, i think its pretty stupid. thanks

I'm pretty sure that the Lindens have used openspace sims in the past to add navigable water areas to mainland continents. However I have not heard of them ever auctioning openspace mainland sims. If the land is indicated as 'protected' that usually indicates it will never be sold.

LL could potentially do anything they like with any mainland sim. However, considering that in the past, they've set these types of sims up as protected oceans and left them untouched, they're extremely unlikely to go and sell the one next to you off at auction. So as long as the sim is marked Protected, I'd say congratulations, your property value just went up.

It's not likely those will be auctioned: LL has long had some openspace on the mainland, including the sims between Islandia and the rest of Sansara, the areas around and including Mohrr and Kremer, ANWR and the rest of that passage, etc. It's more for the sake of beautification than commerce.
