I have been putting together a gallery of my rl photography in sl. It is really just for me because i want it. I dont really expect it to make much i any money (though covering the rent would be nice of course I was wondering i anyone would like to go have a peek and let me know what you think? I have done most the the notecards for the photos, but some are still missing (i am working on them atm and should be done in an hour or two). I would love the opinion of some people who dont know me and have never seen my photographs before thanks in advance The gallery can be found here (i dont know how to do the SURL sorry) Infinity Heights (67, 240, 22)

Just been and visited... they're all really nice! Good job...
A couple of comments though....
- Your door doesn't like me... it opens but then tells me "You do not have rights to access this door" ?
- If I was a not very honest avatar I would zoom in to the display pictures, take a screenshot, and then upload for L$ 10. I don't know what other artists do, I guess putting "sample" across them makes them less attractive.. I'm sure there are people in these forums who can give better advice than me on this.

Thanks for going to have a look Ee Yeah the door has been annoying me too, but I cant work out how to fix it and it looks silly if i delete it so i dunno. Yeah I dont want to put samples over the pics cos that ruins the idea that this is a gallery first and foremost for people to enjoy my photographs,... any selling is seconary

From: Eclectic Wingtips Thanks for going to have a look Ee Yeah the door has been annoying me too, but I cant work out how to fix it and it looks silly if i delete it so i dunno... I had some wonky doors (a different sort of wonkyness, but still...) The easiest way I found to fix it was to delete the offending door script and drop another door script from a different maker into the door prim.

Just a thought, Fhelzgud's free public Yard Sale has 20 prim spots I think two are available now. No group to join or splitting of any profits and a good way to gauge interest in your art.

Hi Eclectic, I think you'll find a divided camp regarding doors on shops. Some say "hey I've got a door in RL, why not in SL?" and others say "So many doors in SL are meant to keep people OUT that I've stopped wondering what's inside them." Yadda yadda... just letting you know that you might potentially lose wanderers-by because of the door.

If I include doors in a build, but I want it to be as inviting as possible, I'll usually do one of two things. Either I'll fix the door in the open position, or I'll put a sensor in it so that it springs open whenever someone approaches. Either way makes for a pretty clear indication that people are expected to enter.

Thanks for some of the ideas guys Ray the gallery is on my old property and I have VERY reduced rent because the land is owned by a friend so having it there was not a big deal. It was where my old house was before I moved in with my partner, but thank you for the thought. I cant mod the doors as they are no mod but I might be able to get a mod version of them if I ask the creator (who is a friend too... awww my friends rock) if they can give me the doors without the scripts then I can have them as chosen suggested and leave them open. I did take them out but the build didnt look as nice. Any other thoughts on the place are welcomed thanks again

I enjoyed your photos - especially the cheetah, (I think it's a cheetah), and the macro palm frond piece. I couldn't spend really enough time with them to evaluate them. (On a side note, we really need a gallery stance animation - you know, where you stand with arms crossed, one hand clasping your chin, looking all academic and serious.)
Are you a member of any interesting art groups? I used to belong to the big artist group - the name escapes me. The constant pop-ups for new show openings started driving me nuts. I wish there were smaller active groups for art.
Anyway, thanks for the show.

Thanks for going to have a look Weston, I am really glad you enjoyed it. Yes it is a cheetah, I got the opportunity to spend some time in a cgae with that cheetah and two tohers at the zoo near me. It was amazing and I got some great shots from that adventure.
I am a member of one art group called Second Life Artists. Unfortunately I dont have room for any more, but i often randomly type words into the Arts and Culture bit and tp over the grid to see what is out there.

It's not a huge deal, but I'm of the opinion that a seller should introduce *nothing* that may be an obstacle to a prospective customer entering and possibly buying, and in my books this includes doors.
