Hey guys, I have looked through both search functions on here in SL and also the exchange, but my keywords bring up tons of items or places--too many to search through!
Does anyone know where I might be able to buy floating candles, torches or lights?? I only found one that was on a lilypad--but I'm not too thrilled with lilypads-LOL
Anyone have any other places they could suggest where they have seen something like this? Many, many thanx in advance to anyone with an idea.

In what way "float"? On prim water, or Linden water? And is it supposed to bob up and down as if the water were moving? (That one is tough... not sure it's possible without causing a surprising amount of lag--especially at any frequency other than 2.5 Hz, which would be pretty bubbly water.)
In other words, other than being rezzed on top of water, how is a floating candle different from a non-floating candle?

Oh! A rotation script is cool--no lag. (Since the posting, I've been trying to devise a "bob up and down" motion based on two synchronized llTargetOmega rotations, one in the invisible root and one in a slightly offset truncated child prim... but then there'd be no way to get it to rotate on the water surface, so... nevermind )

hi, thanks for the replies everyone. It's linden water, not prim-and it would be nice if it had some motion to it, but not necessarily. I've tried sinking regular candles and torches, but you can see the spike and such things below the surface of the water.
JessyAnne, thanx, I'll check out your friend!

The Poisonous insects i Developed are Programmed to meander aimlessly in a 20 meter radius around the Point where they are rezzed, that doesn't seem to cause any Lag, BUT the speed of the meander is as variable as the direction, and distance. In my reearches, I found it IS possible to have candles Float with the "Current" on a water surface as well, We were working on Floating lanterns (Unfotunately Not Completed) that would Follow a Pre programmed Course Floating around our island.

Angelique-cute idea about the floating lanterns, let me know if you complete and decide to retail them.
JesseAnne-Thanx once again, I checked out her shop and made a purchase!!

There's an Llwater float call that might be used somewhere; it finds the height of the water near an object, I believe? I'm assuming it refers to Linden water, as other water is really just prims. Maybe there are candles out there that use this call to float themselves on top of the water? Not sure, don't know exactly how it works. Worth checking out, though.

I'm assuming it refers to Linden water, as other water is really just prims. Maybe there are candles out there that use this call to float themselves on top of the water?... Interesting idea; just for fun, looked this up; per the scripting wiki: "This value does not vary with wave motion (if you have ripple water turned on in client preferences), i.e. it cannot be used to make realistic boats that bob with waves. Wave rendering (the water rising and falling) is performed by the client, so everyone is seeing a different version of the water dynamics." So, it would give a good height from which to center a floating object, but motion would still be "faked" by a script, and could never really synchronize with the Linden waves. (I'm kinda obsessing over up-and-down motion because it's so frequent that it would be nice if it were purely client-side; in contrast, the slow, constrained random traversal about the water plane would seem less likely to be laggy even if sim-side. The easy solution seems sure to lag: make it physical, buoyant, and just bump it a little, semi-randomly in X & Y and sinusoidally in Z.)
