Hi alls,
I am actually experiencing problems with the alpha channel when i try to upload my cretaions in sl... Even the old creations i made time ago don t work anymore when i try upload them again...
Seems that my sl (and one of some friends) do not support the alpha channel anymore...
Do someone knows something about that?
Tx

Alpha channels are still doing fine. Are you using .tga files? Are you saving them as 32-bit images?

Dunno what to say. Check your client graphics settings, in the upper menu Client. Rendering, Alpha. You probably tripped something off. I'm not inworld ATM, but I'll try to take a look later today.

From: Laetitia Ivory Even the old creations i made time ago don t work anymore when i try upload them again... Tx If you are resaving/reuploading the images, it may be your graphics program and not your SL program. I used to deal with alpha TGA/DDS files in Paintshop Pro and sometimes they can be saved a certain way, that if you resave again they lose the alpha. This used to drive me nuts. You are trying to upload them again, not use the actual textures ingame that were uploaded before? (that sounds confusing, but the fact you are reuploading suggests they are new copies of the old files)

I just made some new tga files with an alphs channel this morning and had no problem at all with them. Made them the same way I always have and they uploaded fine. Look great in SL too.

well i made new one... and when i tried upload it doesnt worked.. so i tried with my old creations to see if it was a problem with my photoshop or with sl... and it doenst work either... so he conclusion is that the problem come ... or from sl... or from my graphic card... but i didnt changed my graphic card so...

I have an idea. Before you save the file, go to the Channels tab and make sure the alpha is checked. I was getting the same error you describe a few months ago and I found that everytime I applied a selection to my images, the alpha channel was been unchecked by Photoshop, so I had to recheck everytime. Also, make sure you select Alpha Channel on the save prompt screen when saving.

From: 3Ring Binder my alpha channel is never checked. but my stuff works. is that bad for SL? No.. if it works, don't ask how, just accept it I have no problem with alpha channels, but I do recommend that even if the graphics card is to be replaced that in the meantime update the drivers. I would still love to know what the heck they have to do with uploading!
