Not sure how to DJ on here. I was wondering if anyone knew some good tutorials I could look at or any personal experience to help me get started. :)

Aww shyte. You aren't even running Linux to use Wine.

Only way I see you doing it is with a virtual operating system. Which means getting hold of Windows and is a big waste of space on your hard drive just to DJ.
I use Winamp + Shoutcast and I know of others that use SAM.

I recommend you look at up streaming options and plug-ins for iTrash music player and see if you can find anything that will connect to a stream server.

I have an iMac, and really the only software to use is Nicecast - it's available through Rogue Amoeba - http://www.rogueamoeba.com/nicecast/ . You work off of playlists in iTunes - if you need help setting it up, feel free to send me an IM :)

Need to contact the OP if you really want to help. This is one of those 1 post wonders who probably won't be back.

The OP signed up to the forum in January 2010 - what a surprise that he only has 1 post? I guess your posting history started with a much higher number?

I am back. O_o; I didn't realize how many posts I had showed what kind of person I was.
Thanks for assuming? I'll excuse your rudeness this time.

... Anyways.

Thanks for the tips Guys. I'll keep looking into how to get everything set up.
If you have any other advice I'd love to hear it. :)

I've been DJ'ing on a MacBook Pro for a couple years now. IM me in world. It's really easy and a LOT cheaper than setting up to DJ on a PC computer.

OP contacted me, otherwise I would have ignored this thread. Actually, yes. My post count went up substantially because I did come here with a question first but while I was here I read some other threads and replied to them. I have been on the Internet and forums for a long time.

How many threads are started by and die with the OP giving just one post? Not even a "Thank you," post? My advice was sound.

I don't like accusations.
I really want to be a DJ on SL...
Still working on learning it.
I just don't sit in this thread for hours waiting for someone to reply. I have other things to do as well.

Relax. It was general in the first place. Not personal. I don't even know you. You are really going to hate this forum if you are going to be so touchy. (Imagines Pep, "talking" with him.) :D

You are probably getting the best technical advice. So some unconsolidated DJ self depictions:

I find that about 30 songs is enough for a 2 hour shift and people seem to appreciate that I use SLvoice to talk to them so the music goes uninterrupted.
Also, don't beat the top anything too hard, season your music with it at most.

um... make sure you have the fan speed firmware update. Macbook Pros like to max out their heat envelope when sitting in SL!
