ok so this person started PMing me a bunch of spam, and then he offered me an object called Root something, which i did not accept . after that it said "so and so user has accepted your inventory offer", when clearly i wasn't giving them anything. So i was trying to figure out how to report them, since i didn't know where their avatar was, but i couldn't find it in time before they made me crash... (i am on a really slowcomputer that barely supports SL) So i'm wondering, can I report them when i log back in? or what? and wtf did they do??? also i think there was more than 1person in on the whole thing so i would like to get all of them banned ...

The dude probably just sent the accept inventory message to make you freak out even though nothing actually happened

To verify, look on the transaction history webpage and see if transactions took place

oh, i didn't know that could be done o.o
but it's true... it says they didn't actually take anything
so i guess that means i have nothing to report them for
except spamming and being bitches
but that's not really worth it i guess... and i don't even have the proof anymore

A field in the IM packet chooses which type of IM it is, one would just set it to 5 for "Accepted inventory offer." This page has a list http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/ImprovedInstantMessage and not all of them are valid coming from a client anymore, but perhaps the inventory accept message is a weird case because no action is actually required to accept an inventory offer... Maybe they aren't prepared to require the message to correspond with a real inventory offer yet

I had that happen to me recently, and was slightly concerned because I knew -- from a Youtube video I'd seen -- that it's associated with one of the nasty viewers and I wasn't sure what the chap was trying to do, since all this spam and such-like didn't seem to make anything happen.

Inquiries at another place http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/general-sl-discussion/38364-evil-viewer-exploit.html suggest it's just spam, intended to do no more than alarm and irritate you. Nevertheless, my advice would be to AR him for persistent spam, giving full details, since the nature of the spam strongly suggests he was using a particular viewer and will almost assuredly lead to his being banned, and deservedly so, to my mind.
