Hiya,
Hope I'm posting in the correct place!
I would be grateful if someone could answer my question.
My friend needs to contact the owner of a neighbouring private island, access to the island is restricted although he knows the name and location of the island he has no idea how to track the owner down.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks

Can you actually get on the land?
If so, you can go to the 'About Land' tab on your Browser, and it should let you know who the owner is....

Hiya Feorie,
Unfortunately as the island is limited access there is no way to get there without an invite!
I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Thanks

If the island is not attached to some other island that you do have access to, you may be out of luck. If it is attached to one you can get to, stand in that sim and check the about land info for a parcel in the other sim.
Most private islands that restrict access won't be listed in Search, either. (I checked using the one I live on).
Why do you need to contact them? To arrange for sim expansion? If that is the issue, then it may be easier to get the Lindens to move the existing sim when the new one is added. I seem to recall they will do that at either no extra charge or for a relatively small fee, when you're adding more sims.

Hiya Ceera,
My friend wants to possibily make an offer for the island although it is not for sale!
Unfortunately it is completely unattached and inaccessible. Am beginning to think he may be out of luck with this.
Thanks

About the only thing I can suggest is to put in a support ticket to Linden Lab, explain why you need contact, and ask if they can tell you the sim owner's SL name, so you can make the offer.

It used to be that the land store map would show you all the islands - even the ones set to private - and the owner. I don't know if it still does that or not, but you had to be on the map choosing a location for your island before you could see that info.
Edit, it will tell you the name of the island, but not the owner. That should give you enough information to put in a support ticket.

you could type up the sim name in GROUPS or in ALL searche and see if there are groups for the island.. maybe a name will show up in that ALL search as well..

Hiya Isablan,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes I think submitting a ticket with the name and location of the island is going to be the way to go with this.

If its not near any other land and not accessible... why do you want to make an offer for that particular location on the map? There are lots of blank spaces on the map that could be used.
As its not next to any other land, you're not making the offer in order to expand your current land.

Purple Yeah, it sucks that they no longer tell you the owner. I had to use that trick once to find out who was blocking expansion on one side of me, even though there was no sim showing there on the map. Turned out to be an old space reservation that had expired, but I had to get Concierge Support to remove it so I could add a sim. The quickest way to resolve is to have your sim owner use Live Chat with Concierge Support. If it's just a single sim, your owner may need to offer to pay the fee to move the island. If that sim is part of a larger group in an estate, your owner may need to consider moving his sim so he has room to expand.

As its not next to any other land, you're not making the offer in order to expand your current land. they can move it next to their sim if they bought it.. Depending on the sale price it could end up being less than going through LL for an island.. If i bought a sim i couldn't set it next to your sim..i forget what the buffer is for private sims..if it is a sim gap or more..i think it's only a one sim gap. but if i buy your sim i can have it moved next to mine or mine next to yours if that's the only one there..

Google the island name. Or ask oldbies, or neighbouring region owners what they know. You would be amazed...
