You're wanting to put items in a rezzed cube or box?
You'll need the build tool, so right button, click edit and then click on the contents tab. From there, you'll see the inside of the prim. Then you highlight want to you want to drag from your inventory and drag it from the inventory onto the contents tab. Release and it should be in there. _____________________

Go to the contents tab in the edit window for the box. Drag stuff there from your inventory.

Ok, create the box. You know how to do that but for others who might not, you just click Build (the land must allow building), and click the ground. The default shape will be a cube (box) but you can pick another shape before you click on the ground, if you want to.
Okay. Now, click the box and choose Edit on the box. Next, click the Content tab, in the Edit mode. Now, drag whatever you want to put in there, from Inventory, to the box. It's a good idea to at least slap a texture or a color onto the box, so it doesn't look like every other plywood box. This helps people remember what it is, if they are opening a lot of boxes - and it looks better. Also, in the main Edit tab (the first tab) rename it from "Object" to what it contains or what it is. "Don's Box of Clothes" or whatever. When you are done, right click on the box, and choose Take. That's all there is to it, for the basics. _____________________

I have never understood the reason for putting things in boxes. Is it just a way of keeping your inventory tidy? If so, what is the advantage of using boxes instead of simply putting things in folders?

If he was going to give those things to someone else, for example.
(And yes it's one way to cut down on things listed in inventory. Box currently unneeded things, and delete the copies. I don't like doing that because I have to see things in front of me.) _____________________

Torley has a great video tutorial on this. Go to this link, search for "box", then select "how to open and sell boxes". It covers taking things out of and putting things into boxes.
