OK- what have I done? Sunbursts when I select an object.

I must have changed a setting in the advance menu or somewhere but have now lost it.

When I select an object either to edit or to open or even delete I get these screen-filling golden sunbursts that strobe and blind me. Or should I say bling me? Its like the grandmother of all bling.

I can't find what setting I changed. Anyone know?

Could be Tools > Show Light Radius for Selection

You may want to uncheck this if it is checked.

I couldn't reproduce this problem. Perhaps it's hidden in the Advanced>Rendering section?

or maybe...

Congratulations! You won the game of Second Life! This is your prize!

It wasn't the selection beam. On further experiments it mostly seems to happen on objects I am wearing. In this picture I selected my bandana. You may be able to just make out the golden beams radiating from it. The sky is really blue befind all the light show.

Most bizarre.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

I'm glad I won, Puppet. Do I start over now on a harder setting?

[Edit: I am also having trouble getting the picture to show up. You may just see a link, but I am doing it the correct way.]

Maybe it's just the viewer's way of showing that you're full of win.

To make the picture show up, get rid of ?v=0

You'll get a sunburst very much like that if the debug setting SelectionHighlightThickness is set too high (close to 1.0), and if SelectionHighLightAlpha has been turned down. I suspect your problem night be somewhere else, maybe even a driver thing, but you can visit all the SelectionHighlight* items in debug, wham the Reset to Default button, relog, and see if that clears it up. Or trash the .xml files in your user folder and let the viewer build fresh ones.
