land encroachment and the ensuing harrassment...

I posted a thread about this a few days ago, but didn't think it was necessary to resurrect it as you all gave me great advice. Short of it, they encroached on my land, I asked them to please remove it, they ignored me, I asked again, ignored, I AR'd.. it was moved.

Next chapter...

I go to my parcel, and on it is a box screaming out curses and spewing pictures of one of our beloved (sarcasm) US gov't officials. So I returned it after seeing who and where it came from and TP'd there and just stood there in their "store" and was about to ask them wtf when some dude comes at me with swords flying all over. I was so tempted to mystitool his ass, but I controlled myself as I think I so far have a clean record and would like to keep it that way.

Sigh.. now to my questions...

1. My land is no creating/no object entry/no scripts.. blah blah.. how were they able to leave this item on my land?

2. Would this be considered harrassment/griefing? I assume they are trying to intimidate or whatever because I AR'd them, but sadly they are mistaken. The damn land is for sale. If they need more room, they can just buy it like everyone else. Should I just submit another AR? I'm not really in the mood nor have the patience for their nonsense, but if another AR is the appropriate action, I guess I'll prepare for war...

3. Last question...how do I see if there are any items like that hidden in my land? Is there a way to scan for bugs and such? I've never needed to know so I never researched it, but I now think I need to start brushing up.
and I was having such a nice quiet existance thus far in SL...drats...

You should be able to see whether there are any objets not owned by you in the Objects section of 'About land'. Click on Refresh list in the objects section, check the names, click on names other than your own (or group members) and 'return'.
I've no idea how people get round the 'no entry' thing, but I've had it as well.
You can choose to AR people for leaving objects on your land, but not much will happen.
Good luck.

Thanks Chas. I just set the parcel to auto-return (sweet feature), so they can knock themselves out putting stuff down. I would rather not AR if its not necessary. I figure LL gets so many, I would rather reserve that for if it gets more serious, like if they start harrassing me on my home parcel. Only reason I did in the first place was the rudeness and arrogance that I should allow them to build whereever they needed to expand to, after I asked nicely to remove the mega-huge prims, and even had a translator come with me so there would be no misinterpretations or misunderstandings with the language barrier.

So any and all objects will show up on the objects tab... excellent. Easy fix then.
I still don't understand what their point is, but I have more enjoyable things to do in SL then cater to griefers.

Thanks again :)

Even with the ban lines -so many people here deeply fear because they bite- people can still leave stuff behind on your land. Set Autoreturn to 1 or 2.

There isn't time to be nice. Just do what you need to get rid of people who annoy you for whatever reason. Taking time to be nice to intruders is not how you do it. They're on your land, take them out and no excuses are necessary.

Most likely, Rezzed it on a neighbouring parcel, then pushed it.

The Objects tab in your about land box, as previously said by others.
To see more closely what is where and is owned by whom, get yourself an object scanner. I have a good one, Thomas Conover's "advanced object scanner hud".

I once pushed a tree into an adjacent parcel. I had no idea the tree would be pushable by me, but it was. But the lay of the land would not allow me to push it back. Point? I walked into the tree by accident, the tree was not mine nor did it list me as creator or owner. I did not own either parcel. Do not always blame the owner of an object.

How is this possible with no entry? I thought that included things like objects just mvoing, not just being repositioned by edit.

This confused the hell out of me,too. We had all kinds of objects left on our land, despite the fact that we had no build and no entry for non-group members. In the end, it's just better to set object return. But make sure everything is set to group. I forgot to do this and had everything I owned returned to me.

I did that too when my land was just gardens XD Suddenly had a whole 2048m garden in my inventory and bare land o.o Sucks to place things back when they are made for specific spots on the landscape such as ponds and bridges...

I still don't understand how its possible but oh well ^^

I know one way, but it seems like the developers should already be aware of it... If not... it's one of those things that doesn't seem suitable for the dedicated security vulnerabilities channel, but I'm not sure one should post a repro to the public JIRA either. And you never know how big of an issue or impossibility it might be to fix it. So yea  What do you do?

Indeed, it is something people do accidentally all the time.
