So i bought a sculpty dock set in SL. Here is the transaction: 1588379806 Date: 05/02/2009 13:46:12 Object Sale Description: Sculpt Docks and Bridges Copymod V2 Region: Removed to make people happier Destination: Removed to make people happier L$600 (please notice the date) This was the Saturday SL was having asset server errors all day, well the first day of them i remember. When i bought, i got the server error instead of delivery. I sent offlines, i sent a notecard, i emailed in SLX hoping to catch him there. A friend of mine is in the same group as him and he has been online, just not responding. So i am out $600L. My friend even sent a notecard asking him to pls reply - nothing. Does one have any recourse to get their money back? i think i have waited long enough

You can try abuse reporting them for fraud. How long have you been waiting?

If it shows up as an "Object Sale" in the transaction log, then for all practical purposes the sale went through, and the seller can only see a corresponding, complete transaction in his log. When you use the "Set object for sale"/"Buy", the sim is supposed to roll back the transaction if the object could not be handed over, with a "Stale payment" error message or something similar. (As opposed to the custom networked vendor systems where you "Pay" an object and then has it delivered from a 3rd server object, which are a lot more vulnerable communication glitches, and where the seller can get the money without delivering).
So essentially, this is an inventory loss; a case between you and LL, not an "object not delivered". -Whether it would be good style for the merchant to help out is a different matter, but in fairness, all he can see is that the sim reports that it handed over the object to you; not whether it then ate it from your inventory.

Yes i understand... but if a custmer contacts you 3 times over 3 months trying to resolve the issue why ignore it? Doesnt make sense... i just want my $600L back... how does one go about fixing this?

but if you read the item description it also says copy/mod so it's no skin off the nose of the creator to drop another one on him. To the OP Are you sure you haven't muted him? I know it's unlikely but stranger things have happened. Although if he's ignored your pm over on XSL and your friends IM then I would say there's something else going on.

I'm not saying it's commendable customer service; merely that an error in the sim/asset server isn't AR'able fraud by the seller. And yeah, one of the really big advantages of selling things copy/no-trans is that at any hint of trouble, you can just drop the customer a new version. Why the merchant hasn't responded and done that, we can only guess at.

He isnt a scammer, my friend says he is actually a great guy... which doesnt make sense that he is ignoring me... i could see one notecard or IM not going through, but not all my notecards and IMs. It is not like it was trans and i could scam him out of another. i bought a different set 2 months ago.. it is actually better And the sim is now done. Would not mind getting my $600L back though... kind of sad that someone is ignoring me over $2 US.

Notecards sent while you're offline go to Recent Items initially, then to your inventory. Check there's nothing from him before getting heavy. He might have given you instructions which you've not followed because you don't know there's a notecard. Just a suggestion.

You should take the transaction info out of your opening post, was that there earlier? The person in question is very reputable, I'm surprised they haven't responded, were you rude in any of your messages?

I understand how frustrated you are, reputable is relative, one would think that a vendor who boasts over 2000 satisfied customers would be reputable.as happened to me. I posted a thread here a few months ago about a vendor i paid $9000L for a yacht and it rezzed with many missing parts,i actually bought it about a year ago. For over a month i IM;d sent note cards and never got one response back,i eventually gave up, I put a bad review of this vendor in my picks and i can't count the amount of people who have contacted me in the past year who had the same problem as i did, unfortunately they only saw my picks review when they did a search for the vendor by name and my bad review comes up in search along with his name It is a year ago i had my problems and two days ago i was contacted by yet another person who bought this yacht and it rezzed with missing parts. As with the rest of us he just wrote the money off as a loss because he could not get a reply from the vendor. I bought my present yacht from a vendor who replaced my present one when 2000 items disappeared from my inventory,he gave excellent after purchase service and i reflected that in a good review in my picks. The person who contacted me a few days ago to tell me of their bad experience with the vendor who does nt respond to messages, and leaves you stuck with a bad product, saw my good review of the vendor i bought my present yacht from and bought one from there. I have heard all the excuses about capped i m's etc but that yacht sits there and people buy it and get a faulty product and no way to get satisfaction,,,,,,,,after a year,, and it still goes on,no one can give me a reasonable excuse as to why that vendor does not respond to people who try to contact him for satisfaction. We have no choice but to put up with any bad vendors we happen upon because LL will not get involved with vendor/customer disputes. All i can advise is to put a bad review of these vendors in your picks and conversely a good review of vendor who give good after purchase service

Putting his name in the thread puts you at risk of sanction, your choice to leave it there but it is against the rules of the forum.

He got your money, through the sim, after the sim explicitly told him that it had delivered the product to you. You have the transaction log showing that. LL's software then decided to trash it. If you want to rant and rave and accuse people of stealing your money and items, you should direct it against LL. Have you filed a ticket for inventory loss? Feel free to post reviews for poor customer service (though, as has been mentioned, naming names like that is against the rules of this forum), but please do differentiate between that and accusations of fraud and theft.

The thing is, the seller is within their rights to just give you another copy of the item. But you're (reasonably enough, since you no longer need the product) looking for a refund.
Sellers are very reluctant to issue refunds for items which the records say were delivered, though they will very often send you a replacement.

which is probably what the OP was looking for 2 1/2 months ago when this started... To the OP. If you've got a premium account try live help for advice. Next time don't leave it so long though. LL only keeps transaction records for a month, so it's unlikely that they can confirm that the merchant received your money (that can't be taken for granted the way SL plays up) or if the item was delivered and lost in transit (so to speak). You can also lodge a support ticket or an AR or both. If the creator isn't responding and the profile gives no reason for ignoring customer concerns they're probably the only two other actions you can take. Well, apart from wasting your life by joining the group and monitoring to see when he's online and then posting your request in group chat.. This is probably the only situation where xsl has it over inworld transactions. Had this occurred via a xsl purchase you could have logged a ticket with them and they would have had a quick peek in your inventory to confirm you'd never received it and then resent the item. No drama - well, except for the time taken for them to process the ticket but even they're not taking 2 months yet.
