inventory copies

Is there a way of checking my inventory automatically for several copies of the same item?

I do seem to find identical items in different locations, not sure why (I get lots of presents)

I like to delete copies, & keep my inventort tidy

Type the name of the object in the Search bar. All copies of it will be listed.

(or were you looking for something more automatic?)

You can also open a second inventory window AND open the filters so you can set it to show only a certain category of item - LM, object, skin, notecard, whatever. So if you have a gabillion things in your inventory with 'skin' in the name, you can set the filter to show only the ones that are actual skins, or only the ones that are skin shop LMs or whatever.

I like to filter/sort in one window and drag things to the proper folder in the other.

ETA you will still have to go through the items to see whether they are actually the same, or different items with the same name. But this will make it easier.

What we really need -- REALLY REALLY -- is a way to view the inventory and hide all folders. You could sort the items by name, hide folders so you can ONLY see the item names, and Bob's yer uncle, there you have an alphabetical list of everything in your inventory...perfect for weeding out duplicates.

Unfortunately, inventory management tools is one are where SL really is not up to par.

BTW - not sure if folks messing with the RC have noticed, but there is now a tab called 'worn' in the inventory window.

That's nice, but almost equivalent to "search on (worn". Why don't they let us create arbitrary "smart tabs"?

Except that there are a LOT of things in SL with the exact same name, but that are different items. A female avatar may have 20 entries for "Lace Panties", and they may all be different, from different outfits. Without the folder, you have no clue what they go with.

I have not actually checked it in detail, but I'm hoping it only shows items truly WORN rather than things with the word 'worn' as part of its name. When I search on the word 'worn', I get tons and tons of items listed and then have to scroll thru looking for the hilighted ones to find what is really WORN. I guess the usefulness would directly relate to how many items in your inventory have the word as part of its name.

And yes, I so wish we could create our own tabs and do many many more things

If it's the same as the Cool Viewer, then yes, it only shows what is actually being worn. I used to hate it when the description says something like "Earring - Right - (worn on right ear)". Now it doesn't matter.

:0 it would just be nice if inventory worked like a real 'finder'... it has the arrows of course to see content in-line, but it'd be -super-nice to double-click a folder and have it open in its own window.

also, to add in 'date created/modified' as a listing, so we can easily see what's latest/what's greatest... unfortunately i guess this would involve a lot of db/property calls, unless that gets cached along with inventory (i don't think so; does it??)

And I want an UNDO for inventory moves. So many times I will accidentally drag an item into another folder, half the time not even sure where I dropped it or which exact item or folder I just moved.

hah Cool, I hadn't even noticed!

What I would like to see is Landmarks give a symbol recognized by the viewer in Inventory to search on. Like shirts, pants, shapes, skins, I have way too many LMs even deleting them out of bought things as I go. You get them when you tel in, get them sent, make your own, I've gotten a slew of them in things for other places.
Since Landmarks and Notecards still count as Inventory.

You probably just haven't clicked on it enough for the wear to show.

Where? I'm running 1.23.2, there is no such beast in this RC.
