I have a desktop DELL DM051, with Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz, service pack 3, RAM 3GB, operating system is Windows XP. I'd like to upgrade the graphics card. The graphics card that i have now is an ATI Radeon X300 SE which only gives moderate performance despite disabling VBO.
I'd be grateful for any recommendations, either ATI or NVidia. Don't want to go mad and spend a huge fortune, just want to be able to upgrade performance in SL. Please note that my operating system is Windows XP, so many cards say they are for Windows Vista, and so i'm flummoxed about which one to go for. Many thanks folks!

I like my NV 9800GT
It can be considered top of the line. Yet is cheaper becuase they came out with there new 2xx series.
You can be in bare rose with 40 blingtard primcrazy furry avatars in front of you and not slow down.

An Nvidia 9600GT should do the trick for you. It's fast, costs well under a hundred dollars, and you won't need to upgrade your power supply to use it.
XP or Vista won't be an issue. Very few (if any) cards will work under Vista and not XP. You obviously won't be able to take advantage of Vista's features (DirectX 10), but mainstream video cards run fine under XP.
