Poseball Poll (not as racy as you might be hoping for, sorry)

So I am facing a slight dilemma as a content creator, and I'm turning to the fine folks of Resident Answers for, well, answers. With cuddly couple's poseballs where you and your significant other (or person of significance for the evening ) end up reclining on the floor or bed or some other handy surface, I see two common scenarios again and again: - you rez the poseball set and hop on and promptly find yourself buried in the floor until you edit the whole package back up into the right spot. The plus here is that the remaining poseball is now hanging up a ways in the air for easy access by your cuddle-buddy. - you rez the poseball set and hop on and find yourself resting comfortably on the floor where you belong without needing to move anything, but the remaining poseball is also still on the floor and thus is buried inside your abdominal cavity where your partner can't find it without all that awkward camming and clicking and wondering if maybe someone ought to get on the other ball first etc. etc. So, RA, what's your poison? I'm fully aware that many of you are cuddlers of refinement and taste, and may have all manner of fancy multi-animation tools that you prefer. This isn't about those, though. Faced with a plain old poseball set, which way would you like it to behave?

Better yet.
Put a config script in the pose ball so that people can adjust their rotation/z/axis/etc and set themselves where they want juxtaposed to the poseball. Sinamatic does this. I hate it because i hate dealing with numbers, but at least you can adjust your Z.
The default however should be the pose balls in the air regardless - pose balls in the ground or stuck in bodies absolutely suck and complicate things when you are simply trying to cuddle.

Ditto. I'd rather place them and edit them once, than struggle with them every time I want to use them. Not to mention all that icky bellybutton lint...

Mine do this now with offset in all axes configurable via notecard, along with a bunch of other options... and they currently default up in the air. The reason for this thread is that someone said to me "Gosh darn it why can't people make poseballs that just put you in the right place without editing" and I was curious if anybody else felt that way.

With menu systems at lest, you can 'start' the menu, and you should be able to rez balls in starting positions, easily accessed, and then go on your merry way.

Hmmm. What if poseballs had an on_rez() handler that pushed them up a meter or so in region Z? Does that get the best of both Poison Potions 1 and 2, or am I missing something? (Mind you, I've never tried this, so maybe there be badness I'm missing, too.)

Poseballs never really made any sense for me. There is code in the scripting forums for allowing multiple people to sit on the same prim, there is a method to determine if one or more people are sitting on a prim and to get their keys, and its fairly straightforward to assign different animations for each person depending on either the order they sat down or some key arrangement stored in a notecard. You should just be able to click on a bed - any part of it - and be properly in pose "A" and have your partner click on any part of the same bed and be in pose "B". If you are slightly off because of avatar sizes, you can borrow Leerjeff's open source easysit code to rez a pole you can move about to change your offsets and rotation (and then save them a per key/per animation basis so you only need to make that adjustment once). We have the technology, its just that no one on a commercial scale has ever put it all together.
The only difficulty would be that your typical SL'er would come up to a bed with no poseballs and be totally befuddled, something that would never happen in r/l.
