Help with freebies

Hello all:

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I have a problem and perhaps someone might be willing to help me; I picked a few freebies from a store. The objects appears as a brown box in my inventory, but when I try the wear the article, the whole advertising block of the article attachs to my body; what is the right way to use this freebies? Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Anna and welcome to Second Life A lot of items will be in product boxes. In order to get them into inventory, drag the icon in your inventory onto the ground to "rez" it, then right click and select open. Then click the button marked copy to inventory.

If you can't rez the box, you're probably in a no-build area (there's a little no box symbol at the top of your screen if that's the case). You can walk around until you find one (many stores have an area set aside for rezzing), or you can pop over to a "sandbox" where people are free to build. You can search for Sandbox in search; I've always liked the one at NCI Kuala.

i just wear the box on my my hand, right-click it, select edit, then drag the contents to my inv.

For unpacking things, its a good idea to find a sandbox early on that will let you have rezz permissions and landmark it.

You can also unpack and change at my changing rooms, just type changing room in search. There are several other places like that also.
