I would like to get told everytime I sell something - at present I can only see a way of doing it by using a script in the vendor or object for sale?

there are two ways:
- using a script that sends you a message, wich if you're not online SL will send to e-mail
- in "My Account/Transactions History"

third way: script that uses a external backend (database hosted somewhere). And you can look it up in that database, with close information like e.g.: time, user, item, prices payed, total income per period/user/time/item, etc etc... even flowcharts if you want too.

yes transaction history is a fast cheap way to find wht yuo have sold, i went into mine this morning and saw 3 sales.
Most vendors do now come with customer sales and a host of other goodies, but most of these are 1600L$ . But if your sales are quite high, then u may find a proper vendor machine may be a good investment, im reliably informed that the "hippovend" is getting rave reviews in slex!
But for lost sales or other missing quirks, your transaction history is best place to see everything wether u sent a gift to someone, got a tip dancing or paid rent/tier.

I use the SL transactions page and visit it often during the day. I can also dump it into excel and manipulate the data. I have found that Hippo products create ALOT of lag.

heyas; make sure in your preferences (some general one somewhere) you have checked 'notify when linden dollars spent or received.' then you'll get a nifty blue notice every time someone pays you something. (when you're online.) note this also works from direct box/item sales, not just stuff in vendors. (so does your transaction history.)
