What happens to group land if group runs short of tier contributions?

Ok, looking at buying more land, I have a buy for group option that seems to say I don't need to tier up, what would happen if I tried to buy land this way?
Could I add the tier later?
What happens if I take my contributions from an existing group leaving them short?

they "should" get a warning that their contributions are too low, and it "should" cause them to lose the land in a day or so

now what actually happens... your guess is as good as mine

it is always a good idea to check your land tab every few days to ensure that the contributions still cover the land held

you can safely remove points from any other group, for several hours, to do a transaction like that (i almost dare to say you could go 23hrs59mins on the same day).
