Oopsie...

Here I am at work, putting together something in Microsoft Publisher.

I've got a group of pictures, which I was moving around as a grouped set.

I needed to ungroup them... and hit CTRL SHIFT L, then wondered why they didn't unlink.

It took me several goes before I realised that I was in the wrong program.

Am I alone in this sort of thing?

I think you're still considered sane until the point you try to 'lol' in rl :D

Hmm... City of Heroes, I tried caming around as I would for SL. In both CoH and Oblivion, I've tried bringing up my inventories.. expecting to see the SL inventory folder ;) Also, when navigating around websites, I keep wanting to right-button click to see who owns what. What REALLY is annoying is when I mentally right-button click on RL people and they don't show a profile. (I do this only when very, very tired after working in SL for entirely too long)

On the train home last night, it was rainy out and the trains had been delayed, so we were overstuffed on them. From somewhere in the front of the car I was in I hear a bunch of kids in the 4-7 yo range giggling and having a good time. Every now and again I hear a mom telling them to sit still. The state fair is going on so I figured they were just going home for the day. I saw flashes every now and again, figured it was lightening. But I kept hearing a click-buzz sound. So naturally, I kept trying to cam my head out to see who was taking snapshots. Apparently mom was taking pictures.

So, no, you're not nearly as alone as you thought.

:)

I'm always alt-clicking pictures on websites so I can rotate around to see the other side... I've even done that with images I'm working on in Gimp, to see if there's a better angle...

And each and every time, I'm dissapointed that it doesn't work!

However, hubby and I have developed a new language irl. When going out for a quick errand, we say brb and hb. We've been known to lol and to quote gestures! We've introduced typonese to our rl friends too.

Nope. This is a particular problem if you use 3d modelling programs.

Maya
Modo
ZBrush
Etc.

I hit the wrong shortcut keys in Photoshop quite frequently if I'm working on 3d projects around the same time.

Been there when I was searching for some art ideas on web I tried to zoom in on image but realized I couldn't do that.
Worst thing I hate is when my fingers slip and my computer thinks the short cut keys are for something else like opening up my desk top's start window.

It's never been a huge problem for me; it does happen a little of course, but it generally only takes a couple minutes when I first sit at a program for my hands to remember everything. For example, in the morning many days I'm teaching a class using 3ds max, and then when I'm using Maya at home in the evening it takes me a couple minutes of accidentally screwing up what I'm working on to re-acclimate myself to the different camera controls.

Also, I "solve" the problem of using wrong shortcut keys in Photoshop by not using the shortcut keys in Photoshop :P

I think we all do things like that. I was watching a show on TV last night where the police were surrounding a building cause they didn't know if the suspect was inside, I looked down to the bottom right hand corner of the screen to see if the suspects name was showing up on a radar HUD and for a split second I thought "nope, he's not in there".

I've found myself trying to camera around some of my SL snapshots.

Also we've all seen attempts at reproducing the famous Routemaster London buses in SL, with varying degrees of success. Now I've seen a photo of a real modern box shaped London double-decker with lifesize photos of a dear old Routemaster applied to the front, sides and back as 'textures'. How SL can you get?!!!!

My husband and I have introduced the "SL Moment" to our conversations. For example, a few weeks ago we had an SL Moment of frustration when we saw a really lovely house with three ugly builds that went right up to the borders of its yard. I wanted to click on the land menu and find out who owned the ugly builds.

I was talking with my 10 year old daughter the other day on the phone and that's exactly what she did. She said L-O-L. Maybe it's time to pull that pc for awhile.

I'd rather lose them in my 3d programs first! Having to increase decrease brush size, invert masks, etc., without keyboard shortcuts would be my idea of Photoshop hell. I'd say I'm so dependent on them that I'm beginning to forget where specific menu options are located. ;)
