I was once on a fairly isolated bit of the old continent mainland and the view was nice on the ground. However I spend most of my time 800 meters up in the sky. Today I discovered large glowing magenta megaprims in a nearby parcel on the ground - with glow set to maximum, it looks like. This shines even through the slight hill on the ground and interferes with all transparent items nearby. I gather the neighbor is having some sort of dispute with another neighbor - not with me. Under the circumstances, would you erect one of those ugly walls to block it off a little? (I think it shines even through walls though.) I could make the wall transparent on one side and phantom, and not very tall so it wouldn't interfere with flight. I could even take a snapshot of the scene and make the glowing object disappear using Hide Selected and use the snapshot as the image on the non-transparent side. Or I could just stay in the skybox. Your thoughts?

I'd try an AR followed by support ticket. The misuse of features that interfer with others enjoyment could be reasonably argued to have LL get involved and either talk to the offending person, delete the offending object or maybe invoke some disciplinary action. I know LL will do something about particles encroching on your property in excess..........I successfully argued that point a couple years ago.

Why not right click the prim, get the owners name, and send them an im? Also, check the parcel, could be junk dropped by someone else and the owner may not even realize its there If the prim owner and parcel owner are not the same, send the parcel an owner a message asking them to return it If that fails, file an AR. ~Brie

Curious about the Emerald Viewer and all the features? http://modularsystems.sl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=24&Itemid=16

Maybe double check with your neighbour first, since people on crap computers (like myself) might not be able to enable their basic shaders and can't actually see the glow feature. They could be inexperienced builders and wondered why the glow feature didn't do anything after fiddling with the build menu, not realizing you need to have your basic shaders enabled in order to see glow. Without your shaders on you don't see anything at all.

You have my deepest sympathies. Glow generally pisses me when I see it in a build. A very few use it well and to great effect but it is more often than not a visual nuisance - even when it is employed for quite innocent reasons. In this case I would have a word with your neighbours since it appears they are operating out of malice. Hopefully they will realise the error of their ways and desist. You could always follow through with an AR if they prove to be holes preceded by the indefinite article and a successive double 's'. Otherwise, if it were simply a matter of their taste, I would say nothing and dismiss it along with the rest of the nonsense other residents inflict on the virtual environment without consideration for others. In my experience, folk tend to take comments or complaints about their builds very personally and there is little to be gained by raising the issue. ETA: I forgot to add that Joshooah's advice is good. Your neighbours may not even see the problem. My second PC is a pretty powerful machine but the ATI graphics card doesn't render glow effects for some reason. I run the client with exactly the same settings on both machines but I never looked into the cause of this since I'm quite happy to miss occasional instances of good glow effects.

Could not find what was next to save my life. After a while, another hunter walked in behind me and I asked if she could see it. "Easy," she said. "Just click the glowing eyes." I looked around. "I still don't see them." "Right over there," she insisted. "The eyes. That glow." Etc. After a while, she gave up and moved on. I finally found the next clue by mousing over the general area she'd pointed at until my cursor changed... Glow.... for those times when full bright just isn't enough... /me shudders.

If you approach your neighbour about this it might be helpful to take a snapshot and include this in a notecard (can just drag and drop into the note as long as its full perms) so they can see what you see regardless of their graphics ability. Name the note something like 'A friendly request from your neighbour in "wherever"' so they don't freak out at the inventory offer. Then drop it on their profile to deliver. In a kitty-cornered sim to one of my places a merchant has three megaprim aurora flying at low elevation... yeah, they are glow and shimmering and very pretty... at night.... for a few minutes. When they blaze brightly through my trees during the day they just suck. Can't mute, can only reduce draw distance to squelch them. I've tried communicating, no response. Tried AR, no action. I wish there was a client option to just ignore all objects owned by a particular person Rime

besides with a thing like that, the glow would burn through a wall.
