or are the bots just still there but on timers and you see no bot things on the Incident Report.
most seem to have a good 15 to 20k worth they have on timers. Is LL really this lazy about this?
I thought they hired professionals?
Dose it take some one with a PHD to simply see the bots on random timers now?

I saw a couple of trafficbots 'incidents' the other day. One was given a warning, and the other was given a suspension - 1 day, I think.
But it's not just you. LL don't really want to get rid of them and so they are being totally half-hearted about the whole thing - almost indifferent. I suspect that the two incidents I saw were just a couple of Lindens spotting something in passing, or perhaps dealing with ARs, which we are not supposed to send in.

LL is imposing all kinds of measures regarding adult content but don't take the longlasting bots issue seriously. Banning traffic bots was merely a cosmetic measure. Shameful. But hey, don't send in your ARs.

I'd think it would be hard for Lindens to be on every commercial sim at one time.
Maybe make the penalty for bot usage tougher. Otherwise it will be like whack a mole.

The logon numbers seem to have dropped since implementation, but they are still out there, trouble is as long as they allow infinate free disposable accounts even account closure won't deter the massbotters. Complete IP ban may work but then they may just start running them from internet cafe's or something, resulting in no access there for legit users.

i may be a bit confused here.. but wasn't the problem with land owners using bots to manipulate their traffic?? how can they have a hard time finding someone to blame net cafe or not??the land is in SL.. and the owner has to have payment info..

From: Argent Stonecutter Close the *landowner's* account? See you are thinking 1 step behind, any smart massbotter will deny the accounts camping on their land have anything to do with them at all, they are just a bunch of AV's standing around the store aren't they? LL won't be able to prove anything, they may even swap bots with a partner so the IP addresses are even in different countries.

There is also the idea of putting bots on a competitor's land. That came up in Jack's Camping thread when it appeared that it might have happened to someone. The someone got a warning too.

I'm reasonably optimistic that the new Search approach will make the Traffic metric too changeable to be gamed effectively by bots or camping. What makes me optimistic, weirdly, is that they don't seem particularly interested in getting Resident feedback this time, so maybe they'll just plow ahead and do it for once without listening to those deluded that their little niche relies on "hard earned traffic" to get business, nor those who cynically foster that illusion for their own much larger profits.
