Sim Environment Editing

I've been in several sims where the day/night cycle is locked at Midnight, Full Moon, yet, everything is quite visible, easily seen.

Now I have my own sim, but I'm not sure how to set this the same way. Setting to Midnight, Full Moon, everything is still very dark, unlike these other sims. I asked a friend/sim owner who said it was the "scene gamma", but setting that in my own sim only affects me, not other residents who complain about it being so dark still.

And, sure enough, if I log in another avi, it is that dark for them as well.

Anyone know why this is or how I adjust this sim-wide?

Thanks in advance for your help.

it just a matter of finding that perfect time in the evening cycle (its well before midnight). that is really all there is to it. keep making little adjustments and clicking 'apply' and eventually you will hit the sweet spot.
you are correct that scene gamma and windlight settings have zero to do with this.

Hi Justice,

What you were seeing was the default setting in SL.......you cannot (yet) set it up so others see what you see in environemntal settings. Noone can lock their sim to one time so others can see.....the most they can do is surround the area with dark megaprims so that the estate time will be more muted and the area 'appears' dark.

Thus far LL has not incorporated a way to override what others have their settings on. Each individual always has their own view.....so it's really up to you to adjust the settings until you find one you like......create new.....save it....and then use it when you are in sims that require a night environment. It can take some time to get used to all the sliders but it's really a lot of fun to create your own settings once you get the hang of it. Also...Torley had posted some great pre-sets that people could save to their desktop and add to their own SL files. ;) These are a lot of fun to mess with.

The Estate controls are where you find the checkbox and slider to set a fixed time of day for the sim, such as making it always be night there. Do that, and most users will always see your sim as if it was that time of day or night.

However, individuals can always override that setting in their client preferences. If I enter your sim and my client is forcing mid-day, that is what I will see, not your choice.

I don't think the previous posters fully understand your problem, so I've come to your rescue.

Stand back everybody!!

I think the answer may be that the mysterious 'light at night' sims may be using full bright textures or local lights. The only way to be sure is for you to tell us which sims have this mysterious 'light at night' phenomenon. This way we can send a team around to investigate.

Sincerley, Wandered.

there is no mystery.
there is a time in the evening when the sky is dark and there are clouds and a moon in the sky, yet there is still enough ambient light produced to light the sim
