Jard made me a lovely new Tuscan villa using megaprims, both doubling the square meters in it and freeing up over 200 prims in one fell swoop (Yay! megaprims!). But when he dropped a copy of it on me, he couldn't get it to set to Mod. He says it's something to do with needing to unlink megaprims before you mod, but how can I unlink them without mod rights? I know builders of megaprim houses don't provide their customers with the right to mod their stuff into perpetuity, so are all megaprim houses No Mod by default? Or am I missing something here?
Thank you, you freaking clever people, you!

I'm not aware that megaprims can't be set to mod, but it would make good sense if that's the case, because the moment you adjust the size of a megaprim, it springs down to the normal maximum size - 10m in any direction - and can't be changed back.

O.o You mean I have to get it right the first time!?!?!?! From: Phil Deakins .....the moment you adjust the size of a megaprim, it springs down to the normal maximum size - 10m in any direction - and can't be changed back. Oh, so that's what happened to the prim shadow under my sculpty tree....

From: Aebleskiver Thibedeau O.o You mean I have to get it right the first time!?!?!?! What do you mean by "get it right"? The size can't be changed, or it'll spring down in size, but that's the only thing. From: Aebleskiver Thibedeau Oh, so that's what happened to the prim shadow under my sculpty tree.... If it was a megaprim and there was an attempt to adjust it's size, then yes, that's likely what happened. If you have a megaprim in your inventory, rez one and change it's size - you'll see the effect

You can't resize megaprims period. If you attempt to do so, they go back to 10x10 and you won't be able to increase the size again. If the whole house is Mod, you could still edit any other non-megaprim with the Edit Linked Parts while editing the house. But, you have to be VERY careful and I can't stress this point well enough. If you, by accident, edit the megaprim parts, you'll wreck the whole thing...

From: Phil Deakins What do you mean by "get it right"? Well, just that everything in my sl (and rl, for that matter) is a Work In Progress... From: Phil Deakins The size can't be changed, or it'll spring down in size, but that's the only thing. That's a BIG thing, Phil! Oh, Lordy, Lordy... From: Phil Deakins If you have a megaprim in your inventory, rez one and change it's size - you'll see the effect I don't have to. I already did it to the tree's shadow.

OK, but is there any reason it *can't* be set MOD if it has megaprims in it?

From: Aebleskiver Thibedeau OK, but is there any reason it *can't* be set MOD if it has megaprims in it? The house can be set to MOD by the creator. Once it has been transferred to you as No Mod, you can't change that to Mod. If the creator sets all megaprims to No Mod, and all other parts to Mod, it will still show as No Mod in your inventory, but you can rezz it and click on Edit Linked Parts. You can still edit the Mod parts. Correction: I stand corrected. The linkset takes on the properties of the Root prim. So, the whole house is No Mod if the root piece is No Mod. You're going to have to ask the creator for a Modifiable version of the house.

I don't believe a single linked object can have mod and non-mod prims in the linkset.
