After The Weekend (uk Bankholiday)

What a day....

Well it was bank holiday here in the UK yesterday......so as had the day off from work I thought I would spend the day in SL and play to my hearts content working on my store and its surrounds courtyard etc.
So got the smokes in ... the coffee and preceeded to scratch my bonce for a few hours, anyway was happily switching between SL and Photoshop, my RL misses was sat in her store happily getting bitten by a vampire and all of a sudden I was attacked by a noob, well i say attacked, she was 2 days old and the conversation went something like this...

Noob ..... Hello
Me....... Hiya
Noob..... Is this a club?
Me...... Nope , I make lights and floors
Noob......Why?
Me....Becasue people might want to own a club and need stuff
Noob..... What are you doing there?
me.... Im sat here at my desk while I work in RL
Noob... Can I sit there?
me... No, im sorry but you cant
Noob *offers friendship*
Noob.... Can you move
Me ... why ?
Noob .. shift I want to sit there
Me..... No
Noob.... I want some money, can you help?
Me.... Sorry i dont have any jobs as my store runs itself or im there
Noob....How can I get money
Me... *goes into the "you can camp or work or BUY money" thing*
Noob.... i dodnt want to camp I want money but I dont want to take time
Me.... Well I can only suggest you use a credit card
Noob.... You give me money NOW!!!!

Needless to say I made my excuses and went to work in my skybox instead... after which I got about 10 IM's asking ... almost DEMANDING I give her money, by this point I told her that I earnt my money i suggest she does the same.

Bottom line to this is.... if you are new to SL, we all know its hard and you CAN live a free life here no problems, but Begging and thumping your hand on the desk demanding money is a LOT worse than camping. There are plenty of GOOD free skins etc or even hit the money trees.. I have one for the noobs. BUT.... if you want to have good hair... good skin....nice clothes etc... BUY YOUR MONEY!!!!! or earn it. In my RL I earn about £20 an hour, SL I earn about £2 an hour if im lucky but for me its a laugh, i LOVE building am really getting into textures and scripting. I feel that some folk, really dont have the skills which is fair enough, there is a high learning curve for some things.. but SOME dont even want to learn, or want to buy or even want to camp.

What am trying to say ......
Well we are born into SL just like RL.. with nothing but WHO we are, everything that comes from that is from how much you want it..... From Chip Midnight and his skins to Sarah Nerd who in case you didnt know BUYS LAND *lol* hhehehe, these people have invested a lot of time and effort into the long term enjoyment of SL, to a degree it isnt always about how much you can make but rather WHAT you can make.

Sometimes investment isnt financial....
It could be creativity
It could be Personality
It could be Artistic
It could be Architectual

You dont have to have these skills in RL, my RL is IT ... my SL is my creative outlet.

Its not a rant *s*,

but at the same time....... I understand how it is to be a noob as to a degree i still am one. Theres lots of things to learn in SL and lots of time to do it. I have never begged in SL for anything, my financial SL life was in this order

Raided the Money Trees,
Camping (got me enough to help by my first land and the 512 next to it)
Building etc. (As sales went up was able to get more land to suit need)
Camping stopped and Got a tree

But its just an example..... Cordelia Cordoso (my RL wife) owns Juicee and she had a couple in her shop the other day who put the offer to her that if she let them sell her clothes for her in a store they wanted to do she would get %40 of the sales.

I appreciate the marketing ploy there however why why why would a content creator with 7000 sqm want to have a reseller for 40% return *lol*.

I suppose it goes back to the NPIOF situation. SL is supposed to be fun... and as said earlier doesnt have to cost ya money if you play the game right but ultimately like ANY game... you play to win or at least survive (if the game is life). I can only imagine playing need for speed ..... and asking the leader if i can ride shotgun because i cant be bothered or dont know how to drive.

actually I just had a thought ..... as I make some camping stuff.... Im gonna make an animation...a blanket..... and a cardboard box to sit outside with a notice..

Sure, but in Need for Speed and other games like that, it doesn't flash up a message saying that you just aren't as talented a driver as the leader so you will never win the race no matter what.

Behaviour such as the one the new player demonstrated is obviously unacceptable but I'm intriuged as to why she wanted the money so much. She was obviously frustrated with SL and taking it out on you, which is bad, but what made her so frustrated?

I can't help thinking the begging noobs are younger than the average resident. I mean, how demeaning to be 40 and beg lol. These people were probably given everything by their parents when children and can't quite grasp that it doesn't work with other people.

Well, to be honest, it does have its setbacks: yesterday I was told that an evil warlord is very busy behind his banlines with casting spells to eradicate the number 13.

I must point out though .... shes seemed sprt of ok really ... she didnt grief, wasnt rude apart from language *maybe*. I certainly dodnt want to appear to pity folks who beg for lindens, just i cant see any point. I mean in reality $4 will get you a thosand lindens.

Bilbo..... It helped as I ot my first land for my L$512 and the plot next to it was for sale after i had been there a couple of months and i had become addicted to sitting in a chair untill I learned to fend for myself.
