I am wanting to eventually own my own sim and am taking some time to learn about land ownership right now before I jump into it. FYI - I currently own parcels of estate land through individuals and pay my monthly tier fee through the individual not to LL.
I would like to own an entire sim and subdivide it into parcels to rent/lease to others, but since I only own parcels, I have never subdivided land before and do not know how to do that. I have searched the knowledge base and the SL website pages about buying land, and I must have missed it.
Could someone take the time and walk me through the process once I buy a full region. How do I subdivide it into parcels and then prepare the "About Land" information, "Covenants," set the maximum prim count, and price?
Thanks so much! Grace

It's easy:
- rightclick the land and choose edit terrain - Check "select land" (usually is checked standard) - Drag your mouse over the land to select a part - hit "subdivide"
Done
Joining land:
- rightclick the land and choose edit terrain - Check "select land" (usually is checked standard) - Drag your mouse over the land to select a part. - Make sure the selected part goes into both parcels you want to join. - hit "join"
Done

My pleasure. You looking for Estate Ownership? Might me interesting to look up Torley's video's on that. As Estate Owner you get a bit more tools than a parcel or mainland sim owner has.

Someone told me that Torley video claims you can't join land that is not connected. That's not true.
I've joined together plots on opposite sides of a protected road. I've joined together plots that have other people's land in between them.
If you want to understand some of the basic land tools - just buy a mainland 512 somewhere, and start messing with it.
