I am having a problem with scripted physical objects (dogs and cats, if that matters). As they move, they sometimes seem to sink into the ground, sometimes fly off the ground, and seem to either dart or teleport from spot to spot instead of actually moving. The problem is not with my objects--I went to the dog park, and all the dogs appear to me to be doing the same thing. However, it is my system, because I've asked other avatars present and they don't see the same thing. It happens in any region I visit, and in both the most recent viewer and the RC. While I observe the problem, my "lag meter" shows green for all three lights, and my stats bar shows between 23 and 39 fps, depending on the region. My avatar doesn't appear particularly lagged. I have tried clearing the cache; it didn't help.
I'm *not* well-informed about computers, and would appreciate any help. If it helps, my computer uses XP, Intel(R) Core â„¢2CPU; 4300 @ 1.80GHz; 1.79GHz, 3.00 GB of RAM; and an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS with a 175.51 driver (I recently downgraded the driver because unchecking Palletized textures didn't solve my texture bleed). Thanks!

This is just a viewer/connection glitch. Occasionally, the viewer misses a bit of information, like a dropped packet on the connection, and doesn't really know where the physical objects should be. The viewer just keeps moving the object along the last path it knew about until it receives the correct information from the server.

Ok, is there any way to fix it? It has been going on for a number of days.

Oh, magic! Of course, why didn't I think of that? So glad I asked for help.

RL has kept me out of SL for several days, but I got back last night and started to tinker with all my settings. I found that the scripted physical objects work fine when I raise my maximum bandwidth under Preferences/Network. I raised the maximum about 200 kbps to 490, and now everything works fine and has done so for hours. I realize that there are a lot of variables and this solution may not work for everyone, but if anyone else is having this problem, try raising your maximum bandwidth.

Increasing your bandwidth can help, as it seems to in your case. Or, it can make things worse. Keep an eye on Packet Loss. If the little instructions to move that the sim sends to your viewer get lost, that can explain the jerkiness.
An unsatisfactory partial solution is to send packets twice. It increases traffic, but decreases the chance of a lost packet.

Ya, I see that from time to time, particularly with the dolphins in Livingtree. Never really thought much about it, other than "SL is being glitchy"

Not forgetting that since havok 4 came along a lot of physical objects haven't worked exactly brilliantly.
I'm still waiting to find out when LL will stop avatars feet sinking into the ground.

Are you using a wireless connection?
Using wireless can mess with the timing with which packets are received, and so you'll get the effect even if others on the same sim are having no problem.
