Is there any way of making an object for sale with just modify and no copy and no transfer.
It seems if you click For Sale and try and unclick the other 2 buttons it won't allow you to. You can have mod and copy and no transfer, but not modify on its own, or copy on its own.

Nope. It has to be either copy or transfer or both. You can't have neither.

I think if you put a script (or maybe another object, I've not tried that) inside the contents that is Mod-Copy-No Trans, and make the for sale object Mod-Trans-No Copy you can do it. I do something similar with my Demos to make them have No Permissions.
As an aside - are you sure people will want to buy products with only Modify permissions? I guess it depends what it is, but I know people like Copy permissions because of SL's preponderance for "losing" things. Alternatively, Transfer allows the object to be given as a gift. So you may lose sales if the permissions are *too* restrictive.

True but also remember mod perms grant the person the ability to read your work..dimensions...sizes..rotations..tapers. If you allow a script to be mod...you just gave away your work.
I've often joked and said that if something is mod..it might as well be copy...
I usually make things no transfer /copy...and then depending on the item..how unique i want it to be..mod/no mod.(almost never mod though)

They still have to work at clicking pieces and writing down the details. Just keeps me on my toes to keep new items on the way all the time.

I'm not against mod items..or even moding my own sometimes..alot of peoples work that was modded..taught me a lot of how to build and manipulate and torture prims.
Now adays even if an item isn't mod..I can click on and tell you what shape they used to do this or that and usually if the shape was hollowed or cut or tapered or sheered.
Theres a few little things i've discovered with tubes that I don't want everyone knowing cause then my stuff would look common and also some tortured tricks that are nifty.

I've often joked and said that if something is mod..it might as well be copy... The "modify" permission is just that, the ability to *modify* an object. It has nothing to do with keeping anyone from seeing the prim params which are always sent across the wire for every prim within draw distance, regardless of permissions and regardless of ownership. Everything in SL (except for scripts) is always "copiable" (copy in the recreating sense you implied, rather than the asset operation permission) no matter what permissions you assign it. Use permissions that make sense for your product and your customers, not to fool yourself into thinking that "no mod" is a "recreation"-prevention method.
