Screen flashes like a strobe light now question

Last week or so my PC locked up while I was in SL. I had to reboot to get out of the screen.

When I logged back in I found all my SL Preferences had reverted back to default. I thought this was odd, but I tried to set them all back to where they had been.

Now I find that whenever I am working on something my screen flashes like a strobe light is behind me or someone is taking pictures from behind me.

Since I am a creator of jewelry and work on tiny prims, this flashing gives me a huge headache.

I had thought it was from having my 'selection beam' on - but I have checked and double checked and it is not set as on.

Does anyone have any other ideas of what setting I might be able to change to stop the flashing ? Since this did not happen before my PC lock up and having to reset all my preferences I feel it has to be something I have set wrong.

Oh I have tried installing the newest video drivers and that did not make it go away.

Thank you in advance for any help you may have !

I get green and red flashing whenever I tap my mouse button and it gets worse the longer I am in game until I restart my computer. Its the only game that has this effect on my computer at the moment. I'd like to say its SL right now, but I am having different issues with each version at the moment.

It can't hurt to uninstall and re-install SL.

One might try a system restore if it's a Windows pc.

Try a different version.

I've had this happen occasionally, myself. Usually a relog, sometimes a reboot, fixes it. I've noticed it more after just logging off with one av and logging back in with another. The other av gets the flashing walls and surroundings.

Try going into preferences --> advanced graphics and turning off 'enable VBO', if it isnt already.

What is this? this is enabled on my system already. Should I remove it?

Roughly, It's a way of optimising how world and prim data get computed. Some video cards have a serious problem with this feature, others work great with it. If you have it enabled and don't have any video problems, leave it.
