I got a notice last night that there was a sale on at a shop I have never been to. Huge discounts on skins, shoes and hair. Plus a couple of freebies. I was looking for skins anyway so I decided to check it out.
I was having a few problems with lag, but nothing that I couldn't handle with a bit of patience.
When I got to this shop, there were only a couple of people there, so it wasn't super busy but the lag was still horrible. Textures were taking forever to load. They would only load if I held my mouse over the item, let the description pop up and move on to the next one. (Hard to explain that one)
Anyway, despite the lag, I managed to see a few things I wanted and clicked to buy. The contents window popped up, but the contents never appeared, and the buy button never lit up.
I waited for ages and nothing happened so i tried with a few other items. No joy.
This happened in a couple of other places I went to aswell. I seem to find it really difficult to buy things. Sometimes I have to try for 5 times before the contents appear. Or they just don't appear at all.
Does anyone else have any problems with this, or does anyone know what was wrong?

 Apart from general SL borkyness, simple lag will cause contents of a box or vendor not to show up. And as long as the contents haven't loaded, the buy button won't show either. Secondly, not sure that this could cause the same problem, but could you accidentally have clicked "select only my objects" in the tools menu? As I say, not sure that _would_ cause this problem. Most of the time though, it will most likely be caused by lag unfortunately. _____________________

It just confused me a bit because one of the other places it happened had hardly any lag at all. Oh well. Guess I'll just have to try again when I am having fewer problems. Seems there were some asset server hickups yesterday evening (european time). Uploading textures went wrong here several times, so I loggen out and in again several times. On one login even my account balance didn't load. After 4 logins everythin went just fine. Might be related to what you experienced.

Be aware too, that lag can cause you to purchase an item - and never have it delivered. This has happened to a few of my customers, and of course, I have to give them the product - even though it's missing from my vendor. It's happening enough to be eating into my profit, because inevitably, it's happening on product where I buy a certain quantity for resale and when it's gone - it's gone.

I bought an item and still hadn't received it 2 hours later. It was only a 1L$ item though so I'm not really that bothered about it. I probably need to stop collecting things as I have enough clothes for a year and probably about a dozen houses in my inventory lol. Not to mention all of the odds and ends which I really don't need. i looked at my inventory last night and it's no wonder I am having problems lol. I have over 7000 items  I think I need to cut down and organise lol.  _____________________

I'm fighting desparately not to hit 13k items! Everytime I manage to get rid of 100 or so, I find I have to pick something up for the businesses and they come back! *sigh* I literally had about a 1000 "delete me" scripts hidden in my folders. And hover scripts, and similar scripts. Can delete them Oh, the script literally said "delete me". Not sure what that is about. There are also likely to be LM's, notecards, and other things in your folders. If you own 10 outfits from the same place, you might consider deleting 9 of those LM's and notecards. Or in my case, 1000 (or more) LM's and notecards. And copy items can build up a lot in your inventory. I find it is very hard to delete something I made, even if I have 10 copies of it already _____________________

I had to alt>mouse right up to each sign to get it to rez, and had difficulty buying. and the funny thing was, there was only one other person in the shop, and she was scrubbing the floor down on her hands and knees (what they do to humiliate some campers...wait, I think she was collared and some sort of initiation) any way it was sucky in some the shops last night, and the only thing that helped was clearing the cache and re logging, even then... _____________________

Occassionally, if the contents are very extensive(ie. 1k textures) it may take a long long time to load and if it lags, then it doesn't load at all. Personally, I believe sellers need to break them(the contents) up into several prims so more people will be able to buy quicker. _____________________
