What in the world is "Protected Land" and land that is owned by Linden Labs, but the group MAINTENANCE?
Why is it "SO GOOD" to be by Protected Land?
I have a huge plot that butts up against protected land, but there are a bunch of advertisers buying 16m2 plots and selling them for $L3000 each... OMG!

protected land is land that ll own and will never sell.
imo its overrated because, as youve noticed, it attracts adcutters.
beware that not all linden owned land is protected, and in fact will be auctioned eventually. ppl advertising land have a tendency to label everything 'protected land', even when it isnt.

I once had a piece of land which was protected on all sides and had fantastic views but it was a weird shape ... and because of the formatting of the sims abutting it I couldn't terraform. Still ... why on earth was I dumb enough to sell it? <sobs>.
Genuinely protected land means you have a guaranteed view - so does buying on an island if all you want is water and skies ...

I personally love the thrill of logging on and seeing what my crazy neighbors will build next.
I go from outrage to fear to awe on a regular basis as I see malls, clubs, hugs houses, little houses, castles, vampire havens, ugly skyboxes, beautiful gardens come and go.
My huge prim walls go up and come down so much it looks like an old movie.
Who would want to be protected from that with boring views of the ocean and sky!
