i am agonizing on this for a couple of weeks now, so i thought ill ask the wise. in the color picker (also in the texture picker), there is something like a pin button at the right of "apply immediately"-option. what is it for? i can click on it and it shines in orange, but i didnt manage to find any use. ty

IF u have the texture u use the pin on, the prim will use that texture, it`s like a quick find or something
same with the color, when using it, the edited prim will use the color of the prim u used it on, when it`s white, u won`t see any difference

that is an eyedropper tool. if you think of it this way its use is logical. select it, then go to some prim you have coloured. click the dropper on the prim and it will read the colour of that prim and copy it to the colour selector. this is useful if you have many colours on a large build and have forgotten which shade of green you have been using and whatnot. Almost every other form of graphical programme produced in the world use the 'eye dropper' icon to signify that feature..... You didn't really expect SL to use that as well did you?

I use a different method, I edit the prim (set), select Edit Texture, select the first prim face I want to change, click the texture and or colour box, search for the texture, select it, then without clicking 'select, move to the next prim face, click the texture box, again select the texture still in the open file box, until I reach the last prim face, then click the select button. You can do the same with the colour. As long as you remember to click either the colour box, or texture (whichever you are doing) before clicking the relevant texture and or colour, it will change without having to click the select button.
