Best viewer for old laptop, Intel graphics?

I often have to use my old laptop for SL, since I'm often not at home. Remarkably, though SL shouldn't work at all, it does -- but increasingly badly. The Nicholaz viewer is no longer doing it for today's shinier, more demanding SL *sob*. I looked at Boy Lane's site, but I think the newest versions will be too stressful, and spend precious CPU supporting things my lappie can't do anyway. Plowing through the blog to find/characterize older versions was just too tedious, so I'm hoping someone with experience can help me out!

Here's SL's performance profile with this box, using the Nicholaz viewer:

> 1G RAM, integrated Intel graphics
> Used to get about 7-10 fps, now 1-3
> Fairly stable in SL, by which I mean few crashes
> Runs at near-100% CPU utilization always in SL (expected, since so much of the rendering is actually being done by the CPU). I use a cooling pad.
> Must run with shaders off, also expected
> Handles voice fine
> Very, VERY slow to rez sculpties

Given all that, which version of which viewer do you think might suit this bestest?

Intel Graphics and SL ... /me facepalms and sighs

I haven't found a single viewer that runs adequately on our Lenovo laptop with an Intel graphics card! The only option to make things run is to force S3TC compression which kills sculpties. I still hope that LL will eventually have a patch to work reasonably well with Intel graphics gards.

This horrid laptop I'm on for traveling (bought just to be able to telnet into work) has intel built in graphics and only 512mb RAM. So I use the Old School Nicholaz - OS-q version, which sits on top of LL's 1.18.0.6 version. Life still is not great on it - tons of lag and things lock up often - but it is better than nothing.

BTW - this version is pre-voice and pre-windlight.

Thanks, Lil! I hadn't thought to downgrade my Nicholaz (I'm on a more recent version). I can try that.

Does anyone know if there's a version of the Cool Viewer that would work well for this? It would be nice to have something newer than the old Nicholaz, just because of the many UI features it's now missing.

I'm using Kirsten's S16. Although the older Nicholaz (pre-Windlight) would be ideal, I like the shiny and I can handle it. The texture rez time is still better than any of the recent viewers since 1.17.

Anybody know where I can download Kirstens S16 viewer? I couldn't see a link to it on her site.

STRONG suggestion. Don't do it. SL was a fast death to my laptop with intel graphics. Too much heat buildup.
