Hi there, do you guys know any good residential forums where people talk about Second Life and socialize? Feel a bit lonesome here.

Hi, Zaralyne and welcome to the SL Forums. :) Not sure what you mean...are you talking about a place inworld, or one of these forums? If the latter, you're in the right place; people ask questions here and do socialize.

If you mean inworld, there are lots of places to meet and chat about SL...NCI, the Forum Cartel Hangout, the SLU Clubhouse...or perhaps a spot which holds some interest for you, based on your personal likes/dislikes...

If you're looking for places inworld, I'll be right back with some slurls.

I have been to the supposed forum hangout possibly hundreds of times over the past months now, It's always deserted.

Is this just some freakish coincidence?

I noticed the busiest times seem to be between 4-9 pm PST)(SLT) We had a party on Saturday too, tons of people were there all day.:) There is a hud on the deck you grab and it will tell you who is there at anytime.

And Rika made a Mystitool plugin that does the same thing to save on HUD space.

Well depends on what you are looking for.

I find this forum wonderful for socializing and minimum drama/hate/harassment.

Pssst! Dante's coming...everybody hide, quick!

Seriously...most places, even popular ones, in SL are deserted a lot of the time. There's just too much land space for too few avatars to make crowding the norm (and given the way performance drops when a crowd gathers, that's probably a Good Thing).

But there ARE crowds to mingle with, you just have to get both the time AND the place right. For example, last weekend I visited a crowded club, a mobbed hair store, a wild party at the Hangout, a schoolroom with a reasonable class size, a friend's house where about six people dropped in, a formal masked ball, and finished it all off with waving to the crowds as I rode a float powered by a giant snail in a parade in Caledon.

Well, in the last case, the "crowds" were the parade participants, not mobs of spectators. But I'd never ridden a parade float before.

This one! You just have to ignore the actual topic titles and look for threads with a lot of pages... ;)

Inworld for the non-groupies who just like to pop into places now and again.

The Shelter - always people here at peak times, friendly fun non-aggressive and like NCI they have staff to moderate behaviour so it doesnt get out of control

Coffee Shop Mill Pond - arty people and conversationalists mostly. Not many people go here compared to other places but you can meet some really interesting people.

Taichi area at Inspire Space Park - people here chat in IM to each other as you would expect in these kinds of areas. Most of the regulars will respond if you initiate a conversation in IM, if they dont initiate with you already. Being into taichi they all pretty laid back.

The corral at Orientation Island Public - usual mix of brandnew, new and old residents. The oldbies will chat your head off in voice, IM or open chat and all three at the same time. Can get manic sometimes with gestures and stuff, but most people here are upbeat and let stuff slide if it comes from newbies.

If someone gives me the details of how get the HUD functionality (like Rika must have) - I will make a ZHAO II plugin script for it :)
