Big Grey Map

Am I alone or are others experiencing the same problem ?

Right now I'm bobbing about 'somewhere' on the inland waters of the Old Continent. I say 'somewhere' because every time I call up my map it turns grey and all I see are sim names, green avi dots and for-sale signs $ (when it's enabled). I've been experiencing this problem ever since I downloaded the latest client.

Now normally this would not be a huge problem, but recently I've been doing a lot of sailing/boating with the purpose of creating a set of navigational maps for each of the continents. Sort of difficult when you can't tell where you're going.

So if you own waterfront land in the Old Continent and you see me cruise by..point me in the right direction because I'm probably completely lost.

Seems the map takes much longer to load than in the past.

Just keep the hammer down an' keep on truckin'.

maybee it wil take 4 hpours or more thye whole grid.

The map textures have been missing here too, since the database crash.

Awhile ago one of the Lindens said the biggest load on the database and servers was the loading of the world map. At infrequent times in the past, opening the world map has been a surefire way for my client to crash. Probably today's problems with the database are affecting the map.

Kinda like clearing cache for the whole world?

What can I do about my grayed out world?
Travel alone and hope I don't land on somebody's head.
When will my world stop being gray?
Give me a world with color and movement.
Sigh, my world is still gray.

Gray map has been an intermittent issue for me for months.
I'm not at all surprised to have it gray in a time of general grid issues.

Amongst other uses, I use a small map window when navigating restricted channels. It's about the only way to stay on track as the property lines are way down under the water.
