Hi guys, three quick questions on Havok 4:

1. Does anyone know the current roll-out status of Havok 4?
2. Does anyone know when the roll-out across the grid will be completed by?
3. Has anyone whose sim has already got Havok 4 tried building and moving objects above 750m with success?

TIA

Rock

Did you check the blog? (for answers to question 1 and 2)

Can't help you with #3.

I'm not sure about Havok sims but on a normal sim friends of mine have build just below the ceiling and then moved items above it. I'm not sure if there is a limit on how high you can move things.

A beta tester for MLPV2 reports that it works (rezzing, positioning, and rotating balls) at 4K height, whereas in non-Havok4 sims it does not work over 700 or so.

You have to give it to them they sure picked a great name in Havok. It's exactly what it will be/is causing in sl.

The 768m altitude build restriction thing is built into the client. I read this in a blog entry a while back, maybe a few weeks ago. So although havoc4 regions will allow rezzing and building way up high, the client itself will need to be updated when the time comes, so that we can take advantage of it.

Interesting, but see my post above. I know the guy wasn't lying. He may have been using an updated client of some sort.

Blogs are sometimes written by people who don't really understand the issues.

Not at all. On my Havok4 enabled sim I haven't noticed any real problems associated with it, but I have had a ton more fun! It is awesome what you can do. My most ( destructive ) fun thing to do is pull out this large apartment building I made, unlink the linked parts, set temp and enable physics then watch it fall apart. Would have likely crashed the previous Havok1 or whatever it was at. Now I'm just waiting for Mono, that will be the next big improvement.

I've been to the Havok4 beta grid. LOVE IT!!!

Sure there's gonna be some issues, as people have been using physics workarounds to compensate for Havok1.

There's something satisfying about seeing 700+ physics enabled objects dropped on a sim and NO crashes, NO slow downs, minimal effect on Lag.
