I have some mainland for sale. It is one lot, but there is a piece that is separate of 192sqm. And a neighbor would like to buy this because it borders his land. Since this 192 is a strange shape, I had to subdivide it into to separate pieces. It was the only way I could find to separate them from the main piece. So my question is, how do I join these two pieces? I haven't yet been able to select both of them to join into one lot.

From: George Standish I have some mainland for sale. (From the support website) 1: Stand on one of the parcels you wish to join to another. Select View > Property Lines. 2: Ensure that both parcels of land are adjacent (they share a border at some point). 3: Ensure that both parcels are within the same region. You cannot join land across a region boundary. 4: Ensure that both parcels have the same owner. You cannot, for example, join your group land to your personal land. 5: Okay so far? Then right-click the ground and choose Edit Terrain or hit Ctrl+5 on your keyboard. 6: Now you're able to drag the yellow land select box. What you're aiming to do here is to drag the yellow selection such that it spans the border between the two parcels you want to join. You need to have selected a little land from both parcels that are to be joined. You do not need to select all of both parcels, just some from both. 7: With that done, you should now be able to click the Join button from the Edit pane. If you can't see this option but can see a More button, click that first and you should see the Join option appear. 8: With both parcels now joined into one, check the About Land window (right-click the ground and choose About Land) to make sure that your settings are correct.

Thank you, you have gotten me closer to my goal.
I get to the part of dragging the box to include a piece of each parcel, but the JOIN button does not highlight.

The two pieces must share a common border. Simply touching corner to corner will not work. If both pieces are touching your neighbours land, why not sell them as two separate plots?

Odd. There is an Estate control for whether land can be joined and subdivided, but if you could split it apart, you *should* be able to join it. Are you sure your selection rectangle is touching both areas, and that they are both set the same? Same owner, same group? If you changed group tags while splitting things, one may be set to a different group, even if you own both.

Some days, I swear, SL just won't let me join parcels. (If you're using Windlight, you might try the released viewer, too... just superstitious, but I think I've had more problems with Windlight than otherwise.)

Thanks for the replies. The two pieces do share a border and the yellow select box does span the border. BWAAAHHHAHAHAHAHA! As I was typing this reply, the JOIN button became available! Thank you all very much!

Huh? I was able to join a piece of land to my main parcel and it was roughly two 512m parcels away. Maybe what I did was a bug?

(503 503 503 ...)
I don't know if this relates to the OP's problem or not, but I noticed a little glitch when joining parcels last night.
I cammed up over the land so I could see the entire area I wanted to join, and when I did the click-and-drag the yellow box thing, I could not get the yellow box to cover the entirety of the last parcel - one that happened to be at a sim border. The yellow box appeared only to be covering half of that last parcel. I went ahead and hit the join button anyhow, figuring I could cam around to a different angle and try to join that list bit. And it turned out that the entire parcel was included in the join, even though the yellow box only appeared to cover half of it.
I think it may have been a glitch related to the sim border, or to something funny that was a result of my camming out - I don't know.

1: You don't have to select all of either parcel. A single 4m x 4M square in each is sufficent.
2: The first parcel selected (where you started the drag to select across both) is the one whose parcel settings will be in ffect after the Join. 3: You CAN select and join two parcels that do not share a border, if the land between them is not yours. For example, joining land on both sides of a lindem protected waterway. The Join feature ignores parcels you don't own.

From: George Standish But the select boxes can cross others land? Right. It gets surly, though, if you have permissions on the land in-between but it's deeded to a different group (for example).
