Probably lots of people do this, but it just occurred to me. I change clothes a lot, not just because I am a woman. LOL (I play in multiple time periods and go to lots of costume contests.) It takes time to remove prim clothing.
Knowing that many people make folders of complete outfits to drag on, I made a folder called "Undress". It just contains a copy of the hair I usually wear, a copy of a certain item of clothing I wear under most clothes (grin), and a copy of my AO. I just pull on the folder and ta da, I am undressed.

This post is useless without pictures to demonstrate the effectiveness of the process. Pep (Just has complete drag-on folders for most occasions. ) PS That's drag-on, *not* dragon! PPS Nor is it drag on!!!

I very occasionally dress in a green shiny plastic teddy bear outfit. As part of the routine I sometimes take its head off and kick it around like a football. Inside the bear is the normal me, so I do have a 'teddy undress' outfit folder, which consists of me in underwear with my hair tied up in a bun.
Also I have two 'swim' outfits - that consist of hair, AO, swim AO, and one outfit folder has a bikini, the other doesn't!!!

I have the same sort of thing, but I have casual zero-prim clothing in there too. It's in a root folder and prominently labelled. It's very helpful to change back after wearing a non-human av, quickly getting rid of the weird skin and stick figure shapes these avs come with, plus all the attachments in odd places and bizarre AOs. It also serves as a quick way to go low-ARC for busy areas, and a way of escaping unexpected public nudity.

That is a fairly reasonable idea, yes.
For the looks I wear most often, I put together a COMPLETE change folder, avatar plus the clothing, so I can simply do a "Replace Outfit" and everything from the old outfit is replaced by the new one, including which of my 80+ avatar base forms is wearing it.
So, for example, I'll have a "Default KZK Vixen" folder, which is me as a red three-tailed Kitsune, with my preferred AO, and wearing a full Kimono outfit that is a favorite of mine.
For outfits I wear less often, I have a simple way of changing clothes in public:
Each outfit is in a folder that contains only the parts of that outfit that I wear all at once. So, for example, if the outfit had three variations for the top, I make a new folder containing only the parts that I want to wear.
I first locate the new outfit and do a "Add to Outfit". This puts all the new items onto me, replacing any that take the same slots as in the old outfit. But it may leave some things behind, like a prim skirt or a belt or a pair of pants.
Then I go to the folder for the earlier otufit and on it's folder, do a "Take Off Items", which removes any lose bits remaining from the earlier outfit.

^^This^^. People have lost things they had been wearing when they drop folders onto themselves. They go *poof* into the netherworld when doing that and SL isn't running right at the time. Thank God SL always runs 100% perfect

Pictures, hmmm, sure, coming right up. lol
Yes, I do have complete outfit folders. But often I want to put together a costume out of various items for a contest. So it is helpful to get nekid. Also, my AV gets undressed and goes to bed at night. I'm usually tired and want to get undressed quickly. I usually don't bother with jammies. *wink*

I gave up on outfit folders a long time ago when I realized that not every creator provides copy versions (and if not named properly, and not mod, can be a real pain to track down in one's inventory).
It's interesting that everyone develops their own sense of organization and clothing swaps. I believe it's very much a matter of personal preference and dependent on numbers of ensembles and even avatars.
However, I have learned that changing ensembles in the middle of a busy shop can sometimes lead to inadvertent nudity -- which is very unfortunate when SL's TPs are also acting up.

Cool. Everything but men's underwear, apparently. Pep (is not too sure about socks.)

Further to my post above... I also have lots of outfit folders that include everything I need for that outfit including - hair, AO, jewellery etc. I even include my shape in each folder. This is because I prefer 'system' skirts and dresses to prim ones, and I use a slightly modified shape with narrower hips and flatter butt to compensate for skirt poofiness, even at the tightest setting. All this does is fit that is consistent with my normal shape in jeans, shorts or whatever. This works surprisingly well.

I do something a little similar.
I have a folder called "Always Worn" that contains my AO and other HUD attachments.
I also have a folder called "Become Human" to throw on when I've been wearing a nonhuman av and want to change back quickly (thank to Maureen for this tip!) That one includes skin, hair, and clothes.
However, I change hair and skin so often that I never thought of having a "Lindal Undressed" folder. I think it's actually a good idea.

not sure why folks drag the folder on themselves, when they can simply right click the folder and choose add to outfit or replace outfit
thus removing the chance of accidentally missing when trying to drag onto themselves.

My wardrobe twin. *sigh* But, I never have created a folder containing my avatar just nekkie as the OP suggested, or in undies as Conifer suggested. Good idea. /me sticks yet another post-it note on the monitor

Just a caution: No matter how one chooses the 'wear' option, when changing in open spaces in public there is still a good chance that the clothes will be slow to appear, or not appear at all. Thus, public nakkies. Just saying.

From: Malia Writer But, I never have created a folder containing my avatar just nekkie as the OP suggested I have one of course - including all the appropriate attachments. Everyone should have one! It's *so* convenient when you need to get nekkid quickly . . . Pep ( . . . eg when you feel like visiting a compulsory nude beach in a hurry. )

I tried to make folders for special occasions almost a year ago, but gave up. Because of the no copy items, and because I change hair and skin so often. They are "outdated" after 2 weeks.
