I have recently updated the client and noticed that when people poof into my screen from a tp they are ruth..... then they go ghost or rezz....

Did we not like the ghost thing and change it in update? Or did when I changed something in my advanced it revert it back?

"RenderUnloadedAvatar" is what I did...

RenderUnloadedAvatar will show ruths until loaded.

It does exactly what it sounds like, shows you unloaded avatars, rather than replacing them with a particle effect. Since avatars are all Ruth until their true shape and such loads, those unloaded avatars show as Ruth.

It would be cool if the Lindens could replace the Ruth we all know and hate with a more attractive version so at least it wouldn't be quite so distressing - I'm thinking a sort of ambiguous gender, androgynous-looking avatar but one with pleasing appearance lol.

I assume there is a hardwired reason this is not possible.

When I was a noob the first few times I saw someone appear as Ruth and then morph to their correct appearance I took it as proof positive that I'd caught some female posing as a male

As I understand it, Ruth is just the base mesh of the SL avatar, and any changes are actually morphs of that mesh.

ruth doesn't bother me.... welll.. when I was ruthed (pre ghost) and I didn't know... and no one bothered to tell me... well.. what you dont know wont hurt you, but giggling at people who are... bad form..

Which brings me to this... why don't people tell you when you are a ghost or ruthed, or unaccessorized (missing a shoe)??? And then again why do some get pissed at you for telling them and spit back NOT IN MY SCREEN!!

??

anyway, I can't connect... gunna start another thread..
