Does anyone know of any Asian/Japanese Prefab homes that aren't tea houses?
We've lived in ours for over a year and LOVE it - a 3-story build that is right at 100 prims. However, we need to scale down on our home size/prims and the designer of our home is now out of business so we can't look at the other models there. (If anyone wants to get an idea of our current house, the same model, slightly altered, is used by Orchid Dreams for their shop...except they're going out of business on Dec. 19. *sighs*)
I've searched in world and online but either find homes that are the same number of prims as ours (and usually not as large or nicely built) or a tea house type build. I'm looking for something around 50 prims or so.
Thanks in advance for any leads.

Hi Czari, I'm not even sure if it's still there, but down by the waterfront in the sim Wingo, there was a collection of Japanese houses for sale, all at very reasonable prices.

We finally wrapped up our year-long off and on Japanese building project in Macclaine (large house on the water near the bridge). If that's the sort of style that works for you I could grab some components I used for it and kit something together (which ... is something I've wanted to do anyways and had on my "to do" list). I use a lot of custom textures I rolled myself and have several books on Japanese house design (including some well-regarded standard references) that I have been using as a build resource, albeit with a somewhat liberal interpretation at times.
Geek? Me? I just like to research my projects, honest, really!

I have a little three room Japanese house-and-garden. It's 76 prims, and a lot smaller than your three level. (How did they DO that for 100 prims?).
But you can see it in world down at the harbor in Lebettu, and it's for sale on SL Exchange.

Well I'm living in Japanese Prefab with 4 room which I love. I found the seller when I've done a search in OnRez ( http://shop.onrez.com/kliko_Yoshikawa) Try check it out. He got a reasonable price. He got store in-world but I can't remember where. At least he stated the total prims and built area in sqm so you can pick which one is the best for you. There's other Japanese Prefab designer but it's way too pricy for me but you can check them out if you want something as big as Japanese Castle.

I once used a house from Project Mobius that to my ignorant western eys looks Japanese and yet very modern. It is at least drawn from some eastern tradition or other. The house is called Dark Suspension, but it is 157 prims. There are smaller ones though. It may not be what you're looking for, but well worth checking out anyway. The designs are quite compelling.

to be terribly honest .. over 70% of the so-called Japanese houses i see in SL make me cringe...
its an unkind thing to say .. but those roofs (cut cylinders crossing each other).. and the bad shoji textures all around plus a little dash of kungfu palace .. brrrrrrrrrrr.... doth not a Japanese house make.

Probably doesn't fit your prim limits, but just in case others are reading, we have a range of Japanese houses - some more grand, some much more simple peasant-style houses, based on photos from ancient japanese house styles.
Check it out on the Various Virgin Island sims and see if anything takes your fancy. Or search in-world for Hosoi Ichiba.
Good luck on your hunt!

That's what I keep asking my Partner who originally purchased the home. He said - efficient use of math and textures. I don't get it either, not being a home builder. I'll be down to check out your place, Lindal!!

Thank you, Nieve I really appreciate all these suggestions as my eyes were starting to go blurry looking through all the online ads and then going to places in world that advertised Japanese prefab homes that were basically one-room tea houses. (Nice tea houses, but I'm looking for something a bit larger...errrr, but not a Castle either...lol.)

Thank you for sharing that blog, Kalderi. I enjoy Japanese/Asian cultures and love learning more about them. Been trying to get a few more holiday products out so haven't done my house-hunting yet, but I can't wait...all of these suggestions sound wonderful!
