Ok folks, since they rebooted the asset server today, has anyone noticed a problem with animations?

For example, all my dance balls seem to be animating me faster than normal. I'm afraid I'm going to throw my partner through the wall.

This appears to affect avatar animations, scripted objects that more (fire, my dolphins, etc.) don't seem to be having any problems.

Anyone else see this?

I haven't seen this. I just tested with a particularly sensitive sequenced bath animation (two parts, each precisely timed), and it behaves exactly as before, so at least not all animations are affected, if any are.

I'm kind of at a loss to come up with a way this could happen, really, since the anims are all run client-side. All I can think of is that some danceballs switch between animations on a timer, so if that timer got messed up somehow, one might move too quickly from one anim to another, maybe. But dunno if that's what's being experienced, or if it's the individual anims themselves that seem faster.

Is very weird, as it appears to me and my dance partner in 3 different sims now, with dance balls by different designers.

And yes, it is the individual animations that seem to be running faster.

Yes I have seen issues with animations tonight, but it's my first night wearing my tiny ferret avatar. I seem to be getting stuck in chairs (tiny chairs) and thrown into walls then not being able to get out. I'm getting rather disgusted with my tiny self for all the messes I seem to be getting into...ah but so is the life of a ferret...

which brought me here to ask a question..

Well, I haven't tried any dance anims but I'm having a problem 'sitting'... Whenever I go to sit on a chair that has a specific animation, I end up sitting anywhere but where I'm supposed to..... standing on the arm of the chair/couch, sitting up to my neck in the bloody things....

I finally just logged in after giving up earlier this evening. Everything is running more smoothly for me. I haven't had this good of a frame rate since -- ever.

Could just a better frame rate account for what you're seeing? Maybe the reboot actually did boot all the robot avatars off the grid or something. I'm enjoying it while I can.

I've noticed on occassion that I need to right click an object containing a script go to tool and "reset scripts in selection" to get some things back to normal after reboots, not all the time but now & then.

I have a free roaming rideable butterfly at the yard that seems rather sensitive to region restarts (its menu driven) and I often find it doing the broken wing bird dance on the ground lol.

I haven't had any animation problems yet tonight. The borkness for me is my land says it's owned by "Nobody" so I can't do anything in "about land". No radio, objects, terraforming. At least "Nobody" didn't put it up for sale.

This has been happening with ours on our sim too, some of them look rather amusing sped up!.
AOs have been a bit weird too.. for instance when walking up a slight step, the avatar goes into the falling and landing poses...
When people have been giving hugs, the receiver of the hug has been going into the falling position too.. lots of laughs..
Hopefully it sorts itself out soon

 I'm still having a tough time figuring out how this speeding-up thing is even possible without a change to the viewer software. The stumbling-around thing though... just maybe, if the sims in question were Havoc 4 Early Adopter sims... they had an upgrade that kinda coincided with the asset server mess, and it included:

SVC-1520: Reduced the amount of “float” between avatar feet and floor

which sounds maybe related... if they're Havoc 4 sims.

I noticed that I was getting randon script errors with my walk AO. It kept saing that it could not find the animation (walk, sit, fly, etc etc) then for me everything sllllloooooeddd down. I detached it and reattached it and it would clear for a while. I'll check back tonight and see what is up.
