I have tried going through the classifieds in and out of world, and I've joined the major art groups in-world. But I haven't seen any notices for calls for entries, or open spaces for studio rentals, or other opportunities to show my work.
Does anyone know of a non-profit gallery that accepts submissions, or a private gallery that is looking for new artists who will pay for a space? Thanks!

I have gallery in Faeria Village the owner is really nice but the area isn't high traffic and she only ask for 5 percent commission on any sales you make. I don't sell anything though because I don't sell stuff. Owner is cool with that, I am not sure though if she got any space left. Im me if you are interested or look up my profile in world and go check out Faeria Village yourself.

Contact Slade Pferrer at the Riverbend Gallery.
She shows her own RL photographs as well as those of several other artists. The had an outdoor show of Aboriginal a few weeks back.

Blue Fusion Jazz Club has galleries on its island for artists to show and sell their work. Don't know about cost and availability, but its pretty extensive. There is also Artropolis, the island next door.

I own an art gallery and currently have some space. The gallery is PG and abstract, with some SL photos. I currently have a visiting artist showing rl work, linking it to their website, plus some sculptors works around the grounds. I don't charge commissions but would expect you to advertise that you're showing at my gallery, basically you'd be a draw for your work and mine. Many galleries don't advertise that they'll take work in, you need to approach them and tell them what you have in way of style etc. Look around my gallery at http://slurl.com/portabello/secondlife/portabello/189/220/152and see if your work fits in. if you think it does then IM me and we can meet to look at your work. I have been considering setting up a resident's gallery or even an art competition.
Spaces would be free.
Can you elaborate more on the type of artwork you produce, please?

COOL! This thread caught my eye, even though there is another pace in here to post this kind of thing... (No biggie, it IS a resident question) I am also an artist who is interested in selling images of my oil paintings in SL! I just recently replaced my old non-functioning scanner, so I will be getting some images ready to sell, and I am looking for consignment space as well.

From: Isabelle Frangilli Does anyone know of a non-profit gallery that accepts submissions, or a private gallery that is looking for new artists who will pay for a space? Thanks! I have a small gallery and I advertise all the time for artists to mount one-person shows. The thing is, I only show SL art - that is, art that is made using the materials and forces unique to this world. If you are scanning in your photos or paintings, that isn't what I want to show. But if you are making SL art, give me a holler! IM: Oberon Onmura Man-a-hatta Gallery

For a second I thought this thread title read "Art Gallery looking for customers" ... LOL I just recently opened up an "Art Gallery" but quickly renamed it as an "Art Depot" store after I discovered one of the established SL Art Gallery groups would not recognize you if you were NOT the original artist and/or someone who represents the original artists. Most of the material I sell (LOL if I could ever find customers) is bundles of photographs (with some classic art paintings) following a certain theme and while some of the photographs did come from myself as the photographer, much of it is royalty free material I paid the original photographer for, or material that is not copyrighted. I am having a hard time seeing how SLX would be a good venue for my products since people really do need to browse the bundles of images I provide in person. I average 20 images per product in my picture frame viewers (with full modify privileges so that people can resize their picture frames and use their own frame borders) and what is the point in putting these images online in SLX where people can copy the images there. Plus ... in another thread someone made the comment about these art galleries as, "are they viable SL businesses?". What is to stop someone in SL from zooming in on your painting taking a snapshot to disk and then uploading it to SL all for only L$10 versus whatever it is people are selling their stuff for. I guess you could put "watermarks" on your vendors and remove them once the product is sold. Now since I sell my image bundles for about 1/2 the price of uploading all the images in my bundles, I am somewhat protected from this. But that doesn't mean people can just take snapshot of the pictures that they like. So I have to wonder about the viability of SL art galleries as businesses. It will take many months of strong sales (which I don't have) before I ever break even let alone make a profit. But I have my motivations for starting my "Art Depot" and it is more hobby related as well as provide some product diversity in the SL skymall I am currently located in. To get back on topic to the question asked by the OP. At this time I am maxed out using all the allocated prims in my "Art Depot" location. But things could change and who knows, space could free up if I was to remove some of my products. But as a newcomer to the SL art world, I am sure you would be better off with more established SL art businesses. Of course you could become a premie SL member, obtain a tier free 512m mainland parcel and build your own location. Or you could look around for a shop space to rent. Good luck ... I know I can't quit my RL day job hoping that my SL Art Depot will support me.
